Fisher, Gorin propel Raiders LA GRANDE -- Senior right side Monica Fisher had 14 kills and sophomore outside hitter Shelley Gorin added 12 kills and 14 digs to power Southern Oregon University women to a 15-9, 15-11, 15-8 volleyball victory over Eastern Oregon on Thursday. The Raiders, completing the first of a three-match road swing into Eastern Oregon and Idaho, improved to 9-1 in the Cascade Conference and 18-3 overall. After losing the first two games, the host Mountaineers made things interesting in the third by jumping out to an 8-3 advantage. But the Raiders got good serving from Erin Lytle, good hitting from Fisher and Gorin and a couple of key blocks from Beth Stidham to rattle off 12 straight points and take the match. "We were a little sluggish at times but we made the plays when we needed to," said SOU coach Paul Elliott, whose team is ranked 14th in the NAIA national poll. "It was nice to get the three-game sweep on the first match of our road trip." Lytle, the SOU setter, finished with 41 assists.
