Cortez made her initial appearance Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of first- degree theft and identity theft. She was booked into the Jackson County Jail then released on her own recognizance. Failure to report — Dylan James Burlingame, 23, of Spring Street, Medford. A Medford police officer Tuesday arrested Burlingame on charges of failure to report as a sex offender and a probation violation. He was lodged in jail without bail. Theft — Warren Richard Smith, 37, of the 2200 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. A Medford police officer Tuesday arrested Smith on a warrant charging him with first-degree theft. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Tuesday night on $5,000 bail. Assault — Jeramiah James Scott, 24, of the 8500 block of East Evans Creek Road, Rogue River. A Rogue River police officer Tuesday arrested Scott on a charge of fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Tuesday night on $5,000 bail. Drugs — Katherine Grace Sample, 28, of the 3700 block of Falcon Street, White City. A Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team agent Tuesday arrested Sample on charges of possession of amphetamines and delivery of amphetamines. She was lodged in jail, where she remained Tuesday night on $15,000 bail. Crime reports Vandalism — 600 block of Laurelwood Drive, Rogue River. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy Tuesday took a report of vandalism to a rental property. Damages were estimated at $1,500. Advertisement Fire calls Structure fire — Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District No. 3’s White City station acted fast Tuesday and were able to quickly douse a fire at a nearby plywood plant. Just before 6 p.m., fire crews at the White City station looked out the window and saw flames coming from the roof at Panel Products, 8250 Agate Road, Capt. Mike Calhoun said. Crews went across the street and were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The fire started when some sawdust near a dryer in the plant heated and started to burn. The plant’s owner estimated damages at about $20,000, Calhoun said. A total of 15 firefighters responded to the scene. Crews remained there until about 7:40 p.m., Calhoun said. Structure fire — Fire damaged a set of storage units early Tuesday morning at A-1 Self Storage, 3558 South Pacific Highway. At 1:26 a.m., three crews from the Medford Fire Department and another from the Phoenix Fire Department went to the scene and discovered a fire had sparked along a row of storage units that had been converted to small businesses for a flea market, Battalion Chief Kurt Bennett said. It took crews 18 minutes to get the fire under control, Bennett said. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimate was available Tuesday night.
