The fatal crash happened around noon just moments after a caller reported a white minivan driving recklessly on the rural highway, a Jackson County Sheriff's Department news release said. Amy Sue Foster, 34, and her daughter Rebecca Lynn Showalter were both pronounced dead at the scene.  Three more children in the van were taken to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, Don Hickman, public information officer for Jackson County Fire District 3, reported. One child was flown by helicopter; the other two were taken by Mercy Flights ground ambulance. No additional details about the children and their injuries were immediately available. Records from Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon say the crash was reported at 12:05 p.m. about a quarter-mile west of Reese Creek Road. At 11:56 a.m. the dispatch center had received a call about a reckless driver in a white minivan with red stars on the windshield heading down the Butte Falls Highway toward Highway 62. The minivan, which investigators confirmed was the same one reported minutes earlier, suffered heavy damage. The logging truck was also damaged significantly on the front end, and the driver was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle as a precaution, Hickman said. Butte Falls Highway was closed at its intersection with Highway 62 and traffic was diverted for several hours while the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team worked at the scene piecing together what happened.  — Ryan Pfeil MailTribune.com Writer Posted Apr. 2, 2015 @ 2:02 pm Updated Apr 2, 2015 at 6:12 PM » Comment or view comments   /* $( document ).ready(function() { // Jquery mobile is trying to style the button and leaving a blank gry button on top of a white button $("#viafouracoms .vf-comment-controls li.vf-right").html(' Submit '); });*/ »  STAY INFORMED   Email NewsLetter   Sign Up Today   Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. calendar Connect with MailTribune.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services Home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Announcements Obituaries Story ideas Since you asked Alerts Email Alerts RSS Feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Stay Informed   Email newsletter   Sign Up Today   Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
