Members of the board of directors are especially urged to be present. Closing up all matters connected in any way with the recent poultry show will be one of the features of the business of the meeting. A new committee or two will be appointed to take up the work of making initial arrangements for the proposed state poultry show in this city in December. Matters related to the business in Josephine and Klamath counties and the selection of representatives from those districts served in connection with the preparation for the state show will be considered. BLUE HERON PUTS CITIES IN DARKNESS A big blue heron Tuesday evening put out of commission for twenty minutes the electric lighting and power system of the California-Oregon Power company, serving southern Oregon and northern California towns. Darkness enveloped the revival meeting, the movie theater audiences and various social gatherings. As soon as the location of the interruption was located at Tolo, power was turned on from the Fall river plant for Medford while the Grants Pass and Glendale lines were out only a few minutes. The heron, which measured over five feet from tip to tip of his wings, flew into the transmission wires near Tolo and immediately caused a short circuit, which partially fried him to a crisp. He dropped to the ground and the wires dropped with him and "grounded." The remains of the huge bird were found at the scene of the trouble and brought into Medford by the repair crew. ASHLAND AND VICINITY The local armory may stage an amateur boxing bout next week on or about Thursday, February 24. "B. B.," said to stand for Barney Burnett, a local expert, has been prevailed upon to meet Joe Vashbinder, in whom the sporting element of Gold Hill think they have found a match for Ashland's Cardiff giant. The battle will be in conformity to pure food and prohibition enactment.
