The sheriff's office named the Siskiyou County deputies involved in the shooting of Matthew Ryan Graham as Cpl. Hoyt Bradley and Deputy Jason Jones. Shasta County deputies were identified as Lt. Troy Clegg, Detective Sgt. Brian Jackson, Sgt. Steve Grashoff and deputies Mike Nelson, Tom Fleming, David Eoff and Garet Baldwin. CHP officers Eric Degraffenreid and Jeff Bell were also named as having been involved. Graham, 23, was shot and killed in a confrontation with officers following a pursuit of a 2007 Buick, which he had stolen at gunpoint earlier that morning from a Shasta Lake couple in whose yard he had spent the night. A CHP helicopter from Redding reportedly tracked the car to a location near Katherine and Francis streets, just south of the Dunsmuir city limits. Graham was killed after reportedly exchanging gunfire with officers near a garage in which he was hiding. Graham had been implicated by Shasta County investigators in the disappearance of his 6-month-old daughter, Ember, whom he reported missing July 2. Graham allegedly stole a handgun from his mother and fled the area July 11 after being named a person of interest in the disappearance, having made what investigators described as "inconsistent statements" regarding the case. Investigators called off the search for Ember Graham the day after the shooting, with Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko saying he believed the infant, who needed daily medication to prevent seizures, was likely dead. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office reported Saturday that while the results of the shooting investigation have yet to be reviewed by the district attorney's office, all of the officers involved are expected to return to duty within the next few weeks. Graham's shooting was the second major crimes case in Northern California that resulted in a police pursuit and shooting in the last month. Kaleb Landon, 32, was shot and killed July 1 by Oregon state troopers and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after a pursuit that ended on Interstate 5 just north of Grants Pass. Landon had been identified by Siskiyou County authorities as the prime suspect in the slaying of 34-year-old Erika Lemere, who was found dead in her Yreka home earlier that morning.
