Schneider Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 26, 2014 at 2:00 AM Posted Dec. 26, 2014 at 2:00 AM »  Social News March 15, 1936 - December 9, 2014 Micah 6:8, Life verse David Arthur Schneider graduated to Heaven from Rogue Regional Hospital Tuesday morning, December 9, 2014 after a 3-1/2 year good fight for good health from lymphoma and bladder cancer. He was able to be home for Thanksgiving to see all his children and most of his 14 grandchildren the week before his homegoing. Dave was born March 15, 1936 in Grants Pass, Ore. the first of four children to Arthur and Savola Schneider, followed by brother, Phillip, now deceased; sister, Linda Halstead (Larry) of Yamhill, Ore.; and sister, Kathy Besler (Ervin) of Grants Pass, Ore. David married Alice Wilson August of 1957 and completed their family with four children, Duane David (Bobbi) of Roseburg, Ore., Darrel Scott (Faith) of Aloha, Ore., Kevin Larry (Lori) of Oregon City, Ore. and when the boys were 9, 7, and 5, Julie Ehrlich (Jason) of Sherwood, Ore. joined their family. They have given the family 14 grandchildren, (one, Grant, preceding him in death), and one great-grandson. Dave was in the U.S. Navy for five years and started college at SOC in Ashland in 1959 on the Korean G.I. Bill and attended there three years and the U of O in Eugene one year graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and was a father of three boys by that time. David, with the help of a family member, purchased MEDPACC from Otto Ewaldson which became Rogue Valley Data Processing, the first computer service bureau at 3rd & Bartlett in Medford. The first statement promoting service said "Founded to serve business and professional people of Southern Oregon with the benefits available through the use of Electronic Data Processing." Dave would later joke that his first business computer system did not have as much memory as his present wrist watch! RVDP was sold to Harry and David in 1971 and he worked there until he resigned in 1985 to go to work for Sterling Business Forms for a friend, Mike Jackson, in Medford and White City until his final retirement in 2001. Dave, in his working years, was in Kiwanis, Rotary, and served on the Airport Commission, but enjoyed most helping at First Baptist Church, both physically and in leadership as well as Grace and Cascade Christian Schools. He was proud of getting his license to fly his father-in-law's airplane and always shared that his own father had a country airport in Jerome Prairie when he was young. He loved lake fishing, hunting, camping, and boating and took most of his grandchildren fishing or water skiing at one time at Lost Creek Lake which was the family favorite. He was also known for helping people with their computers and was challenged to fix anything, especially if told "you can't do that" or "that is not fixable!" Dave's memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 3, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Avenue and the family would be honored with your presence. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation in his name to First Baptist Church or Cascade Christian High School. He has been buried at Memory Gardens on Arnold Lane and his obituary is on their site at www.memorygardensmortuary.com .
