With the majority vote, these agenda items could be detrimental to our students and loyal district staff. We take pride in our district, putting our children first. A board of directors should be made up of five community members that intend to support our students and staff, be pro-education and well balanced, along with the ability to lead the district with experience and open-mindedness for success and positive growth. Candidates that don't have this shared belief, and don't have the best interest of the student at heart, should not be put in a position to make decisions for our future. Cindy Tilley Case and Cathy Salmon are both endorsed by the Central Point Education  Association and the Oregon Education Association. Julie Ironside Central Point   Are we failing? Our greatest gift to Rogue River School District students is a quality education upon which their future careers are built. Are we failing? One unopposed candidate rarely attends meetings. Another claims residents are happy with the direction RRSD is heading. Read these statistics: Greatschools.org rating: 3 out of 10 Best Districts ranking: 86 of 114 Best Academics: 79th of 90 Middle school 270 of 337 Elementary 574 of 667. This is not our students' fault. We all must take responsibility. As your former School Board chairman, we made tough but wise decisions. My experience as president/CEO of three successful corporations provides a unique perspective for improved long-term planning and school rankings. Add “Howard Wand” as a write-in candidate opposing Robert Hileman. Encourage friends and neighbors to do likewise. This is your school district. Take action to provide students with the tools for their future, and ours. Sandwiched between World War II (1939-1945) and the Vietnam War (1961-1975), the Korean War has been called "the forgotten war." Labeling the Korean War a police action is a misnomer. The World Book Encylopedia states: "The Korean War was one of the bloodiest in history. About 1 million civilians were killed, and millions more made homeless. More than 560,000 United Nations troops and about 1.6 million Communist troops, both North Korean and Red Chinese, were killed or wounded or reported missing in action." This Memorial Day let's remember all our American vets, including those who fought in Korea. Both the Korean War and Vietnam War were deployed to halt the spread of communism in Southeast Asia. To halt the imposition of collectivist, Soviet-style communist treachery in Oregon, honest, informed voters must oust these odious, socialist, anti-gun, elitist, Bolshevik legislators in Salem who supported Senate Bill 941. James Farmer Ashland A crucial election This is another crucial election for the students and taxpayer/voters of District 9. The current administration has inflamed major community division. This district has lost large numbers of teachers and students and the district’s reputation continues to dwindle. The superintendent runs this board. Lowest graduation rates (56.1 percent) in the valley, consistently low test scores, highest teacher turnover rates in the state, hundreds of thousands in lawsuits (including civil rights), over $100,000 in out-of-court settlements for alleged employee unfair dismissals, high class sizes unnecessary if extreme savings were used properly, the only district in the valley with unlicensed counselors, the only district not counting homework and assignments as part of student grades, not using state money earmarked for new buses to replace old less safe buses. Vote for candidates willing to research, ask questions, build positive relationships and be leaders for positive change. Marks and Mannenbach.
