Jacob Sawyer Vizcarra, 24, of the 400 block of Pine Street entered not guilty pleas in Jackson County Circuit Court to three counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree official misconduct. He has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Aug. 29. Vizcarra is accused of having sexual intercourse with a female younger than 18 between March 5 and June 7 of this year, according to an indictment. School officials contacted the Jackson County Sheriff's Office June 7 with concerns of an inappropriate relationship between Vizcarra and the student. Sgt. Eric Fox said an investigation showed a relationship had been going on for several months. Vizcarra was arrested June 15 and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. He was released after posting a security deposit of $400 — 10 percent of his $4,000 bail, court records show. Vizcarra has retained local defense lawyer Jeni Feinberg, according to court records. In other Jackson County cases involving teachers allegedly having sexual contact with students, former Crater Renaissance Academy teacher Jeffrey Robert Zundel is scheduled to go to trial Dec. 13. He faces 11 counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual intercourse with an underage student in spring 2015, according to court documents. Richard Michael Fay, suspected of engaging in sexting and sexual contact with two students beginning in 2014 while a teacher at South Medford High School, has a pre-trial conference hearing scheduled for Aug. 29, according to court documents. The 16 charges against him include using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, second-degree possession of material showing sexually explicit conduct of a child, luring a minor and third-degree sexual abuse.
