My top priority is education. We've started to rebuild K-12 funding, and we need to keep going. And we need to make a major investment at long last in higher education in our state. How do you plan to create jobs, especially in Southern Oregon? I believe education is what fuels the economy. We need to support the great work Rogue Community College does in training people for good jobs, and we need to all work together to revitalize SOU, which will be the driving force for us for years to come. We can help build great, small, high-tech companies here, bring innovative ideas into our health care community, and take advantage of our region’s remarkable ability for creative collaboration. What role should the Legislature play if the GMO labeling measure passes? The Legislature needs to support the great organic ag products we have, and work to brand Organic Oregon as world-class products for local, national and international markets. What role should legislators play if marijuana is legalized? We need to put into place the regulations necessary to do just what the measure asks for — to safely legalize, regulate and tax marijuana in a way that works for Oregon.
