Pat Moore lost her no-hit bid with two outs in the top of the seventh inning but still secured a 5-0 win for the Panthers in the opener. The Cavers came back in Game 2 to salvage a split with a 2-0, 10-inning victory. Grants Pass (20-3, 15-3 SWC) dropped a game behind fifth-ranked North Medford in the SWC standings after Saturday’s loss, while third-place South Medford improved to 18-5 overall and 13-5 in league. Hannah Smith’s RBI single plated Alexis Baker in the second inning to give South Medford an early lead against Grants Pass starter Amy Robinson, who finished with six strikeouts and three walks. In the third, Baker supplied a two-run single to pad South’s lead. The Panthers pushed their advantage to 5-0 in the fifth when Krystal Williams and Rachael Moore each scored following a fielding error on a ball sent into the outfield by Hannah Newman. Pat Moore struck out 16 and walked three in Game 1, with the lone hit against her coming with two outs in the top of the seventh by Hailee Noga. Neither team was able to score in regulation during Game 2, with Rachael Moore’s blast off the left-field wall coming inches away from settling the contest in the eighth inning. Under international tiebreaker rules, GP finally scored in the top of the 10th when Nicole Godwin hit a two-out, RBI double. Godwin later came in to score when the throw to deny her stolen base attempt went into left field. Noga was 2-for-4 for the Cavers in Game 2, with Robinson striking out five and walking three. Pat Moore was 4-for-5 and Jeryka Johnson went 2-for-4 to pace the Panthers in Game 2, with Pat Moore striking out 16 for the second straight game to go with six walks and one hit batter. NORTH MEDFORD 6-9, ROSEBURG 3-8 : North Medford rallied in Game 2 to send the contest into extra innings, then shook off a Roseburg run to score two of its own in the 10th inning and secure a SWC sweep at North Medford High. The Black Tornado (17-4, 16-2 SWC), which took over sole possession of first place in the league, saw Christina Kuykendall score on a fielding error off a grounder by Alex Barry to tie it in the 10th and then Rylan Austin’s slow roller to the first baseman plated Teanna Gonsalves with the winning run. Sarah Thomas earned both pitching victories, allowing 11 hits with 11 strikeouts and five walks in 15⅔ innings. Janelle Rodgers and Gonsalves each had two hits and two RBIs in Game 2 for North, while Tra Kucera was 3-for-5 and the Tornado got two hits apiece from Olivia Lethlean and Aidan Roderick. In Game 1, Kuykendall was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, Roderick 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI and Lethlean 2-for-2 with one RBI. CHURCHILL 4-2, EAGLE POINT 2-5 : At Eagle Point, Maddie Bartlett’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning provided enough insurance to help Eagle Point split with Churchill in the second game of a Midwestern League doubleheader. Bartlett put the Eagles (16-5, 10-5 MWL) up 5-2 just after Megan Ayres’ go-ahead fielder’s choice scored Kylene Briggs. Ayres picked up the victory from the pitcher’s circle, allowing two runs — one earned — on four hits, no walks and five strikeouts. In the opener, Paige Leeper hit her second home run of the season in the first inning. She finished 2-for-4 and brought home another run with a double in the sixth. PHOENIX 14-3, HIDDEN VALLEY 13-0 : At Talent, Bailee Tally’s game-winning sacrifice fly sealed Phoenix’s seventh-inning rally in the first game of the Skyline Conference doubleheader. Tally brought home Lizzy MacLennan after Tiona Hurd’s RBI triple, followed by MacLennan’s double, knotted the score at 13-all. Hurd finished 4-for-5 with two triples and a double to go with four runs and two RBIs. Sara Saurman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Tally added an inside-the-park home run. In Game 2, Valerie Meltzian pitched a two-hit shutout for the Pirates (11-10, 7-5 Skyline). She struck out three and walked none. Tally hit a two-run double in the first inning and finished 3-for-3, as did Hurd. Creech went 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored in the opener for Prospect/Butte Falls (12-5, 7-3 Dist. 4). Emily Winsbury finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and Munsell struck out nine and walked two. In Game 2, Creech’s grand slam highlighted a 15-run second inning for Prospect/Butte Falls. She plated six runs and scored twice while going 3-for-5. Munsell fanned six and walked just one, while Raleigh Weaver and Hannah Kuykendall each went 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
