ODOT warns of snow delays on Southern Oregon passes By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Apr 11, 2022 08:15 AM A A 123RF.com image The Oregon Department of Transportation is advising Rogue Valley motorists to be ready for winter driving conditions today that include possible snow delays on Interstate 5 north of the California border. Moderate to heavy snow is expected to fall in the mountains through Tuesday as part of a spring storm bringing strong winds and heavy precipitation in the Southern Oregon cascades, according to ODOT and a winter storm warning issued by National Weather Service meteorologists in Medford. Between 3 and 5 inches of snow is expected to fall on the Siskiyou Summit pass connecting Southern Oregon with Northern California between now and 5 p.m. today, according to a detailed National Weather Service forecast. Should snow stick south of Ashland, ODOT advises motorists to expect temporary traffic holds on Interstate 5 in order to plow the freeway — especially between mileposts 6 and 9.5 where the freeway is down to a single lane for road construction, according to ODOT and an earlier news report .
