PREP ROUNDUP Stone throws no-no as Vikes sweep CAVE JUNCTION -- Mazama's Chris Stone pitched a no-hitter in the second game as Mazama swept Illinois Valley in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The scores were 17-2 and 11-0. Stone almost had a perfect game with only one walk and eight strikeouts in the second game to pace Mazama. Kyle Michaelis led the Vikings in the first game with four hits and four RBIs, while Tyler Starke had three hits in the game. Willie Wallace, Jason Nelson and Steve Blevins all tallied two hits in the first game, while Wallace led Mazama in the second game with two hits. Hall went 3-for-4 in the second-game romp, smacking two round homers and knocking in three runs while scoring four himself. Scott Nelson led Butte Falls (0-8, 0-4) in the nightcap, going 3-for-3 from the plate, pounding out a double, home run and picking up three RBIs. Clint Stockton added a leadoff solo homer in the first game for Butte Falls. However, North Valley came back in extra innings in the second game to earn a split. North Valley's Jeff Reese had a no-hitter through the fifth inning in the first game, but Henley took advantage of North Valley's mistakes to come on strong in the sixth inning to score eight runs. Sam Jarrett, Scott Baugh, Justin Sulivan and Cory Pedersen all had two hits for North Valley in the first game. Jeff Bass, Reese and Luke Godfrey all tallied two hits in the second game to lead North Valley. Emily Hoskins, who had four RBIs, and Rachel Pierce each tallied two hits in the second game. Mazama's Jen Valition picked up the win on the mound in the first game, striking out eight.
