Joseph Henry Bowden Jr. MailTribune.com Writer Posted Sep. 7, 2014 @ 2:00 am Posted Sep. 7, 2014 @ 2:00 am » Social News Joe Bowden was born January 20, 1928 to Joseph and Mary Bowden in Dorris, Calif. He graduated from Modoc High School and started a career in the lumber industry in 1946 with Ralph L. Smith Lumber Co. in Canby, Calif. It was there that he met Juanita Dunkin, who was his beloved wife for 63 years before her death in 2012. Joe and Juanita were blessed with three children, Diana, Ron, and Rob. In 1953 they moved to Yreka, Calif. where they raised their family and were active members of Yreka First Baptist Church. Joe and Juanita moved to Ashland, Ore. in 1983 when Joe went to work for Croman Corp. and eventually moved to Medford, Ore. in 1992. In 1993 Joe retired after 47 years in the lumber industry. They attended Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford and were involved in several mission trips and ministries and Joe frequently sang at church. Joe and Juanita's faith was an example of commitment and steadfastness and was the cornerstone of their family. Joe had hobbies that benefited his children and grandchildren. He restored antique cars - Ron has a 1929 Model A pickup and Rob has a 1929 Model A Coupe. He also made wooden toys for his grandchildren that will be forever cherished. Joe missed Juanita desperately after her death. His family is comforted by the knowledge that they are reunited and we will all see them again, happy together. Joe is survived by their children and families; Diana and Larry McCulley of Canby, Calif., and children, Tom and Jennifer McCulley of Canby, Calif.; Megan and Chris Walker and daughters, MacKenzie and Reagan of Lake Shastina, Calif.; Ron and Ginia Bowden of Shelbyville, Ind. and children, Kimball and Lisa Bowden; and daughter, Aurora of Shelbyville, Ind.; Alexis and Sam Ray, and daughter Cambria of Dyer, Ind.; Rob and Tracy Bowden, and son Drew, of Troy, Mich. Also survived by his brother Jack and Marlene Bowden of Eugene, Ore. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13 at Eastwood Baptist Church, 675 N. Keene Way Dr., Medford, Ore. 97504. Contributions may be made to Rainbow Acres, Attn: Dawn Jones 2120 W.
