Budget panel makes use of community A story May 6 about the Jackson budget committee left questions in my mind. Who are the three community members on the budget committee? If not elected, they must be appointed to their position. Who appoints the community members to the committee? � Betty B., Medford In Oregon, all budget committees are made up of elected officials and a like number of community members. The three community members on the Jackson County budget committee are Tim Alford, president of Rogue Federal Credit Union; Neil Thorson, budget program manager at Avista; and Valerie Root, an executive at Sabroso. All were appointed to the budget committee by the county commission. The community members serve three-year terms.
