CRIME Man arrested for robbery of Cave Junction pot dispensary Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Sep. 12, 2016 at 5:01 PM Posted Sep. 12, 2016 at 5:01 PM » Social News CAVE JUNCTION — A 43-year-old man is in custody in connection with the robbery of a medical marijuana dispensary. The PAPA's dispensary was robbed at gunpoint Saturday evening. On Sunday, sheriff's deputies arrested William Lee Smith, 43, of Cave Junction, on charges of first-degree robbery, menacing, theft and carrying a concealed weapon. According to sheriff's logs, an employee called Oregon State Police after the incident, but because the crime was no longer in progress, the employee was told to call the Josephine County Sheriff's Office in the morning. The Sheriff's Office does not have 24-hour patrols due to budget restrictions, and OSP tries to limit trooper availability to violent crimes in progress or life-threatening emergencies. Owner Cheryl Keil said Monday morning that three employees were in the store when the robbery occurred. No one was injured. She did not know the amount of cash stolen, and said no merchandise was stolen.
