Mail Tribune 100, July 17, 1922 By Alissa Corman Jul 17, 2022 12:00 AM A A News from 100 years ago The following news items were drawn from the archives of the Mail Tribune 100 years ago July 17, 1922 FORD AND FORDSON POWER EXPOSITION CARAVAN ON HAND Arriving in Medford from Ashland this morning, the Ford and Fordson caravan is here for two days in which to demonstrate industrial, commercial and power farming equipment. The caravan will have its headquarters at the natatorium camp grounds. Carrying the Dolto light system, the caravan is amply provided with illumination for the night shows Monday and Tuesday. In addition to a program of evening lectures by experts in their respective fields, and a widely varied movie show, the ‘Frisco jazz band has been engaged to tour the city streets Monday and Tuesday evening, rendering a number of selections, prior to returning to the Nat campgrounds where the band will complete the musical program. Reaching Medford at a time when ample opportunity for a number of special demonstrations is presented, the caravan will conduct a field day Monday and Tuesday at the grounds of the new Jackson County fair. Being situated on the highway, south, where traffic is heavy, and also being convenient of access from any part of the city, this demonstration site offers an exceptional chance to see all manner of industrial operations. The John Gore ranch, also on the highway, south, is close to the city and a more convenient location for a greater number of farmers than would be any other location. Then as was done with great success at Ashland, there will be demonstrations at various points within the city. The Ashland light and water departments utilized some of the caravan equipment. Friday and Saturday Ford trucks were used for hauling mail and for many other commercial and industrial purposes. Upon concluding each day’s work in the field, each of the 26 units, hauling or carrying its own equipment, will assemble at the Natatorium campgrounds each evening.
