Fleeing suspect dives out of moving car MEDFORD — Police said a man trying to escape capture bailed out of his still-moving car in a parking lot early Wednesday, leaving the vehicle to crash into a mini-storage building. Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 9, 2007 at 12:01 AM Posted Aug. 9, 2007 at 12:01 AM » Social News MEDFORD — Police said a man trying to escape capture bailed out of his still-moving car in a parking lot early Wednesday, leaving the vehicle to crash into a mini-storage building. An officer quickly arrested Eric James Crenshaw, 29, of Medford, on a slew of charges linked to his attempt to flee and evidence of methamphetamine, packaging materials and nearly $2,000 in cash he had with him, Medford police Detective Sgt. Mike Budreau said. The arresting officer said Crenshaw was speeding north on Highway 62 near East Vilas Road, after which he attempted to stop him at about 12:40 a.m. Crenshaw turned on to East Vilas and drove west, veering into the eastbound lanes and lurching over a curb and ditch into the parking lot of All American Mini-Storage near the intersection of East Vilas Road and Industry Drive. In the parking lot, he jumped out of the car, which rolled into the storage building, causing more than $100 damage, the police report said. The officer apprehended Crenshaw, who initially gave a fake name, Budreau said. He was arrested on charges of possession, manufacture and delivery of meth, attempting to elude police in a vehicle and on foot, hit and run, providing false information to police and criminal mischief. Crenshaw also had been named in a warrant charging him with failure to appear on a past contempt of court charge. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Wednesday night on $149,000 bail.
