Police disable stolen car to end two-state chase A pursuit of a stolen car ended in Medford Tuesday when police put a spike strip on Interstate 5 near the north Medford interchange with Highway 62. The strip flattened the tires, stopping the car and enabling Oregon State Police troopers and California Highway Patrol officers to take the 17-year-old driver into custody. The chase originated in Northern California, where the driver was speeding, but police soon discovered that the car was stolen. Medford police helped officers from the two state agencies by closing the northbound on-ramps of Interstate 5 after being advised of the chase at about 11 a.m. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
