Rupp, who won the 10,000 on Thursday, finished in 14 minutes, 4.12 seconds to claim the 5,000 victory. Rupp nearly lost a shoe on the first lap of the race but recovered to hold off Northern Arizona's David McNeill, who finished in 14:05.79. Rupp's win moves the Oregon men's team one step closer to the "Triple Crown" after winning the cross country and indoor track and field titles earlier this season. The Ducks, who received a boost when Texas A&M's 400 relay team was disqualified, lead with 36 points. "I knew if I dropped to second, that's two big points," said Rupp on the team competition. "I wanted to do my part to make sure I took care of my end." The Aggies, among the favorites heading into the competition, were tied for 12th at the end of the night. The Oregon women also lead the team race with 39 points. Oregon's Brianne Theisen won the heptathlon with 6,086 points, while teammate Rachel Yurkovich scored a javelin title with a toss of 195-7. The final day of the four-day event takes place today.
