Geraldine Frances Ritchie Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 5, 2014 at 2:00 AM Posted Dec. 5, 2014 at 2:00 AM » Social News Geraldine, a long-time resident of Medford, Ore., passed away November 23, 2014, at the age of 90. She was born in Rapid City, S.D. August 3, 1924 to parents Edith Long and Henry Van Hise. While attending high school in Chemult, Ore., she met the love of her life, Loren S. Ritchie. She often said that she wouldn't have passed math if he hadn't been doing her homework. On April 10, 1941, he and 16-year-old Geraldine Geri eloped and were married in Vancouver, Wash. They were married for almost 65 years when Loren passed away in 2006. Her favorite pastime was researching family history. She had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, temple work, and the promise of eternal families. Geraldine and Loren are survived by their two daughters and their spouses, Suzanne P. Davis (Lynn) of Central Point, Ore. and Pamela A. Monroe (Patrick) of Albany, Ore.; their grandsons, Ian Davis (Jennifer), Daniel Monroe (Jamie), Alex Monroe, Travis Monroe (Kristen); granddaughter, Talya Escobar (Moroni); and three great-grandchildren, Megan and Zachary Davis and Elizabeth Monroe. Also surviving Geraldine is her youngest sister, Evelyn Harper of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; their only son, Daniel Loren Ritchie; her parents; her brother, James Van Hise; and her sister, Pauline Burger. Friends and family gathered for a memorial service Monday, December 1, 2014 with interment in Memory Gardens following the service. Arrangements by Memory Gardens Mortuary.
