U.S. District Court Judge Callie V. Granade asked Mobile County Probate Court Judge Don Davis to follow her directive in regard to the gay marriage issue, after a woman was jailed earlier this week for trying to perform a same-sex marriage in the county. Alabama’s decision to legalize same-sex marriages caused controversy in some of its counties, especially since Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy G. Moore gave an order to his state’s probate judges to refuse to issue the licenses to gay couples. QUOTE OF NOTE “I never worked for (Jeb Bush),” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said in an interview earlier this week. “I was never a staffer of his.” Rubio, nearly 20 years younger than Bush, long expressed his admiration for the former governor of Florida. His comments this week have been characterized by pundits as an attempt to distance himself from Bush. Both conservative politicians are expected to vie for the Republican nomination for president in the 2016 election.
