Workers in Industrial Sector 


2395. SHRI SUSHIL CHANDRA : Will the Minister 
of LABOUR be pleased to state : 


(a) whether the number of workers In industrial 
sector have increased or decreased during the last 
three years till date: 


(0) the percentage of decline in the labour force of 
India after the implementation of new economic policy: 


(c) whether the problem of unemployment has 
increased after the implementation of the new policy: 
and 


(d) if so, the details thereof? 


THE MINISTER OF LABOUR (SHRI ४. 
ARUNACHALAM) . (a) The number of workers in the 
organised sector (1.९. all public sector establishments 
and all non-agricultural establishments in private sector 
employing 10 or more workers) has not shown any 


decline during the last three years. 


(0) to (d). Estimates of employment. unemployment 
and labour force are made on the basis of the 
quinquennial surveyS on employment and 
unemployment conducted by the National Sample 
Survey Organisation (NSSO). The latest Survey relates 
to the year 1993-94 and the estimates based on this 


are yet to be finalsed. 


Waiting List for Telephone Connections 
in Uttar Pradesh 


2396. SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR : Will 
the Minister cof COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to 
State : 


(a) the number of telephone connections provided 
In Uttar-Pradesh during 1995-96 (till date), district-wise: 


(b) the number of persons tn the waiting list for 
telephone connection in the State. district-wise and 
particularly in Bareilly. upto June, 1996: 


(c) the time by which the wating list is likely to be 
cleared, district wise, and .. 


(d) the number of additional telephone lines 
proposed to be provided during this year in order to 
meet the demand of the State, district-wise?
