FM RADIO IN TENTH PLAN

Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: 


(a) the percantage of population likely to be covered by FM Radio Service during the Tenth Plan in the country ; and 


(b)the other technological initiatives envisaged broadcasting and telecasting during the Tenth Plan? 


Answer 


THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING (SMT. SUSHMA SWARAJ) 


(a) All India Radio has, proposed to cover 60% of the population, during the 70th Plan. 


(b) Various initiatives such as, Internet Broadcasting, Introduction ofDigital Broadcastingin Terrestrial/S atellite mode, expansion of 
FM Transmission network, conversion of existing analog production and delivery system to digital mode in order to provide superior 
quality programmes to listeners and to further improve the coverage area are envisaged to be taken up during the 0th Plan, subject 
to availability of resources.
