GOVERNMENT OF INDIA INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO:2994 ANSWERED ON:2.03.2002 OUTSTANDING DUES AGAINST FM RADIO PLAYERS ASHOK NAMDEORAO MOHOL Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: (a) whether the attention of the Government has been drawn to the news-item captioned *F.M. Radio players evade paying licence 66 appearing in the Hindustan Times dated December 9,200 (a) if so, the number of FM Radio players who have not been paid their licence fee, city-wise; (c) the amount outstanding against each of them; and (d) the action taken by the Government to recover the outstanding dues? Answer THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING (SMT. SUSHMA SWARAJ) (a) Yes, Sir (b) Three (3) licencees in respect of seven (7) non-metro FM Radiostations have so far not paid up the licence fees, which had become due. (c) A statement indicating the amount of outstanding dues against each company is at Annexure-A. (d) Bank Guarantees of Rs. 790 lakhs in respect of one (7) licencee havebeen encashed. The encashment of Bank Guarantees of two (2) licencees has been stayed by Mumbai High Court. The cases are being pursued.
