The extraordinarily wide spectrum of clinical manifestations associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, ranging from completely asymptomatic to fatal disease, represents an unexpected and yet unexplained clinical feature for an emerging highly contagious novel human pathogen. The study of the innate or adaptive response to SARS-Cov2 in immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts can help deciphering the immunological predictors associated with the such clinical outcomes as well as the immune response to immunizations.
In FY24, leveraging a collaboration with a network of Italian medical centers and NIAID investigators we have identified novel predictors of the breadth and longevity of T cell-response as well as the immune responses to mRNA SARS-CoV2 vaccines.
