Alterations in ACE2 caused by the SARSCoV2 infection are preventing proper functioning of TACE  leading to an increase in membrane bound TNF and/or TNFR2 retention subsequently local hyperproliferation and ECM deposition or alterations in the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Perhaps a treatment targeted at TNFR2 or nAChR could provide therapeutic benefit in COVID19 patients. Will also longitudinally stratifying cytokine concentrations by severity will provide additional insights that may suggest immune modulatory targets for COVID patients, even if no abnormality in TNFR balance is detected.
