IDPS continues to support ongoing the Vaccine Research Centers (VRC) COVID-19 studies in the establishment and continued advancement of pre-exposure and post-exposure treatment modality (i.e. vaccine) studies using the rhesus macaque animal model. As a result, IDPS personnel were co-authors on 7 different scientific manuscripts, submitted to, accepted in, and published in peer-reviewed high impact scientific journals (the manuscripts are provided in the historical report). Additionally, in collaboration with the Vaccine Branch, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute, the IDPS continues to support novel vaccine safety and efficacy treatments (e.g., intranasal vaccines) through histopathologic examination and immunohistochemical studies of the nares, trachea, and lung of COVID-19 hamsters.
