BUILDINGS AND ENERGY GRANTS PASS SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY ACTION PLAN Grants Pass’ municipal electrical energy usage declined 3.4% from 2020 to 2022 and overall energy usage declined 0.5% for the same period (electricity and natural gas). Energy expenditures for electricity and natural gas declined by nearly $12,000 during this period.31 This was largely due to a few key improvements:Progress to Date Goals •Reduce the energy usage of operations (and in turn, energy spending and emissions volume) •Convert critical infrastructure (Police, Fire, Wastewater, and Water) to be able to run off -grid without depending on external fuel sources •Consider sustainability in all new constructions and remodels •Have a standing committee advise on sustainability of any major new projectsPotential Indicators The following measures could be used to indicate successful improvement in sustainability in the Buildings and Energy sector of Grants Pass’ operations over time: •Energy spending reduced by 40% (inflation and population adjusted) •60% locally sourced (off -grid) energy •100% electric systems by 2045 •Emissions reduced to net -zero by 2045Interior LED Lighting Automation EffortsHarnessing Digester Methane Streetlight Conversion to LEDSolar at Police Station Going Forward 39
