⚖️ Media vs Public — mild divergence
last 30d · updated Sep 03

vs
The public (social)
+0.04
116702 posts · L +0.04
The sentiment gap here is modest and the sample headlines suggest something important: the mainstream articles flagged under "Flock" do not appear to be *about* Flock in any coherent topical sense — a dolphin stampede, a Singapore bankruptcy ruling, a 9/11 memorial — which means the sentiment scores are likely artifacts of keyword or entity matching rather than genuine coverage of a single subject. That limits what can be read into the -26 point divergence. What the gap *does* show is that whatever content the algorithm associated with this topic, editors framed it more negatively than the public responded to it on BlueSky and Reddit — a mild inversion worth noting but not overinterpreting. The public score of +0.04 is effectively neutral, and the media score of -0.22 is only mildly negative, so neither side is expressing strong signal. Until the underlying articles can be confirmed as topically coherent — actually covering the same "Flock" subject — the divergence should be treated as a data-quality question before it becomes an editorial one.
Sentiment −1…+1 (VADER) —
not truth. A gap means coverage and public mood point different directions, not that either is right.

FLAT
Flat (-4.3% over 3 days). No directional signal.
Modal-language intensity (current day)
Hits per 1,000 words. Delta is 7d-vs-prior-7d change. Rising fear/dread/urgency + falling certainty/complacency = typical "crisis warm-up" pattern.
