Stages of Excellence Assessment2 Eight building blocks across three broad areas of strategy, operations and enablers provide the foundation for an organization to assess how to advance its green procurement practices. This chapter introduces the eight building blocks that define the dimensions which CPOs and other executives must address – often in parallel – to advance measurable and scalable green procurement efforts. These building blocks represent the core areas where action is needed, from governance and supplier engagement to data, incentives and cross-functional collaboration. Figure 2 outlines these eight building blocks, which serve as the foundation for the Stages of Excellence Assessment.
