The recognition by Schwab Foundation has brought us a lot of credibility. It has really helped. Jim Fruchterman Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tech Matters, US Published in January 2025, the Social Innovation in Action report provided a snapshot of the impact and progress of the foundation’s community and how the Schwab Foundation can further support its members on their missions. This work analysed data from the 63 social innovators awarded between 2022 and 2025, the 109 community members who participated in the annual survey, as well as the demographic data of the 438 social innovators in the community at the time. Among the findings, the following elements stood out: Social innovators are mobilizing unprecedented resources: While funding disparities persist, many awardees are now securing nine-digit investments. These funds are often complemented by in-kind contributions such as pro bono services and technological support – resources that enable them to expand, upgrade and sustain their operations at scale. They are strengthening cross-sector collaboration with care and intention: Trust remains central to how innovators engage with the private sector, forging partnerships that are both cautious and strategic. These relationships are increasingly mirrored across public, private and civil society spheres, creating a dynamic ecosystem of shared value. The community continues to accelerate collective growth: Innovators report tangible gains in idea generation, strategic partnerships and access to networks that amplify their work. The community serves as a platform for exchange, enabling members to evolve through shared learning and mutual support. Visibility and recognition are expanding rapidly: With online engagement doubling since last year, social innovators are gaining traction across digital platforms – reaching wider audiences, elevating their profiles and demonstrating impact more effectively than ever before. 9 Schwab Foundation Annual Report 2023-2024Credit: ShikshaLokam
