Synthetic data is becoming an essential tool in the data ecosystem, addressing many of the limitations of real-world data from data scarcity to privacy. To unlock its full potential and ensure responsible use, collaboration among developers, data scientists, policy-makers and organizational leaders is essential. This requires strong governance, a commitment to generating inclusive and high-quality data, and transparent practices that benefit all stakeholders, particularly historically marginalized groups.The recommendations in this document offer a starting point for harnessing synthetic data in a responsible, equitable and ethical way.
