Edible projectiles   Ashland Daily Tidings/CHRIS MILLER Jane Thomquist (purple shirt), Nathan Carver (black shirt) and helper Lin Roten, members of Helman Elementary's Cheese Car team, watch the apple-wheels fly over the ramp as the cheese body of the car remains idle during the 7th annual Edible Car Contest in the Science Building on the campus of Southern Oregon University. SOU's Quantum Maniacs Physics Club the contest on Thursday, where 39 teams made up of young students from Rogue Valley schools launched their contraptions off the steep ramp in a quest for the grand prize.
