Jamy Lynn Elkins, 21, was traveling southbound on the forest road just before Dead Indian Memorial Road, where there is a large snow berm. She went air born over the berm and landed on bare pavement, according to the sheriff’s department. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident at 10:55 a.m. Elkins died of injuries sustained in the crash. She was not familiar with the area, had never ridden a snowmobile before and was not wearing a helmet, the sheriff’s department said.
