The second-seeded Eagles (19-12) won their first-ever conference playoff game and set a league-game scoring record in a 122-88 romp. The seventh-seeded Raiders, who had a 12-game conference tournament win streak snapped, ended the 2003-04 season with an 8-18 record. "It was a great game," SOU coach Kevin Wilson said. "Both teams just shot the lights out and they deserved it. They didn't miss. You don't lose very often with 88 points." Eagle senior guard Briana Duerr led the offensive fireworks by canning 13 field goals, including seven 3-pointers, along with 11 free throws for 44 points - the third-highest game scoring output in the league's 11-year history. Five other players finished in double-digits for points for NC, which shot 57-percent, led 56-46 at halftime and reached the 100-point mark with eight minutes remaining in the contest. "(Duerr) was on," Wilson said. "We had a hand in her face and she was just hitting everything." Junior center Lindsey Aitchison compiled team-highs and career-bests of 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders, while senior guard Lindsey Hilaire tallied 17 points and a personal-record 10 assists in her final game for SOU. Junior guard Camille Porter finished with 16 points, and freshman forward Andi Peterson posted a season-best 13 points off the bench. Southern converted 34 of 85 shots (40 percent) and fell to 17-2 all-time against the Kirkland school, which is seeking its first-ever NAIA tournament bid. The Raiders, meanwhile, are already thinking about next year. "I'm ready to go," said Wilson, who said he was congratulated for his team's sportsmanship after the game by Northwest's president. "Last year at this time I was done, but now, I'm ready to go." Women's Tennis The Southern Oregon University women's tennis team improved to 15-0 against Shasta College, dating back to 1969, with a 5-1 dual-meet triumph at the McNeal Hall courts Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders (2-1) won both doubles events and three of four singles matches with a lineup consisting of four freshmen as well as junior Erika Moller. "I was pleased with our doubles play," sixth-year SOU head coach Gail Patton said. "We took control of a lot of points by coming to the net and used strategy we've been working on in practice. "This was a good opportunity to play some of our younger players, and it was a good showing." Hurlocker, a Gresham High product, improved to 5-4 on the season with a three-set triumph over Tiffany Painter at No. 1 singles. The Redding junior college competed with only four players (instead of the usual six) due to schedule conflicts.
