The performance will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Meese Auditorium in the Center for Visual Arts on the Ashland campus. Tickets are $5-15 by donation and can be reserved by calling the WRC at 552-6217. What has changed for women in the past 35-plus years? What have we accomplished? What have we yet to do? The answers will be performed to the delight of your ears and eyes in "Women: The Longest Revolution." This performance ties significant local movements to national women's movements in history. Bethroot Gwynn has lived in Southern Oregon for 30 years and has personally experienced the gains and setbacks related to the women's movement in the U.S. She combined all her knowledge, passion, and experience into this documentary with cameos by some of the area's most beloved actors, including Carolyn Meyers (Hamazons), Mane Mara, and Jennifer Council. The Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance (IVSHA) serves women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. IVSHA's vision is to offer safe housing in the Illinois Valley; provide transitional housing and support with housing stabilization needs; offer trauma counseling for victims and their children; offer safety planning and advocacy support with the legal system; provide access to resources with multiple service agencies; promote community education about family and sexual violence; support school outreach programs to prevent family and sexual violence; and create self-sufficiency for IVSHA program and the women with whom they work. The Women's Resource Center at SOU is an organization that explores women and gender issues from a feminist perspective, and serves all students, faculty, staff and community. WRC offers educational programs and support services, including a resource library, a collection of community resource information, leadership programs in the prevention of sexual assault and violence against women, and student staff opportunities.
