But that's not how it happened on Friday night for Greg Lemhouse who encountered a particularly lengthy incident of Chris Earl Thompson's road rage. Lemhouse, a Medford police officer and Ashland resident who narrowly lost a seat on the Ashland City Council in November, was coming home from a movie with his wife when he encountered Thompson, also an Ashland resident. "Lemhouse was going to merge into the left lane [on Highway 66, just east of the I-5 overpass]," said Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters. "Thompson sped up to try to not let him change lanes. Then he started flashing his lights and following him." Lemhouse, who was going home to his house near the Oak Knoll Golf Course, said, "He cut me off and almost ran me off the road." Lemhouse and his wife went home, thinking the incident was over. But after tucking his kids into bed, and walking the baby-sitter out to his car, he realized the person whom he just had a scary experience on the road with 15 minutes prior was now parked outside of his house. "I assume he saw me turn onto my street," he said. "I took that gesture to be pretty threatening." Thompson took off in his pickup truck and Lemhouse subsequently got in his car and tried to follow him. "I tried to find his vehicle to get his plates," Lemhouse, said. He said he looked at the nearby gas stations and when he couldn't find Thompson he went back home, again thinking the incident was over. "Then he was back again," Lemhouse said. "At this point I was in fear for my family's safety." Again, Lemhouse took off after Thompson. "I felt it was important to try to identify him so I followed him," he said. He followed Thompson from his neighborhood near the golf course to the corner of Neil Creek Road, where the old Maverick's restaurant is. Lemhouse said he was "three of four car lengths back" when he was able to make out Thompson's license plate. By that time, both drivers had pulled over near the Maverick's building when, according to Sheriff Winters, Thompson turned around and drove straight into Lemhouse's car. "I was exiting my car [and] actually had to jump out of the way of my car," Lemhouse said, noting that Thompson was only driving about 10 miles per hour at the time. "It happened in a matter of seconds. He pushed my car all the way across the road." Lemhouse said Thompson then left the scene. Sheriff Winters said his deputies arrested Thompson shortly thereafter at his home on Reiten Drive, just east of Ashland. Winters said Thompson is being charged with attempted assault, reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He said Lemhouse did not break any laws by pursuing Thompson before alerting the local police. "Police officers in Oregon have police powers anywhere in the state," Winters said. "This is not necessarily the norm. If I was going to make an arrest off duty I would certainly call for back-up first." Lemhouse said the ordeal has put a scare into he and his family. "It certainly scared my wife," he said. "The fact that he knows where I live is a concern to her and to me." But, he added, "It comes with the territory. For me, as a police officer, it's not that uncommon. Obviously off-duty it's pretty rare." Staff writer Robert Plain can be reached at 482-3456 x. 226 or [email protected] . Current Comments: I can see Steve Iverson's comment now. "That man had an absolute right to terrify Mr. Lemhouse and his family. If you are going to be a cop then you have to learn to deal with things like this. That man was not doing anything wrong; just another case of an overprotective cop." Not Iverson - Ashland, OR - March 15th, 5:24 PM I hope the community supports Greg and his family. This is a time to be there for the law enforcement as they are here for us day in and day out. Oregon courts need to make people be responsable for their actions and face the max. punishment. jess - ashland - March 15th, 5:41 PM Let me see now....where have I heard that name, Chris Thompson, before. Oh yes, he's the boorish lout who was banished from the sidelines for a number of seasons (while his daughters were playing) from the club and high school soccer games for obnoxious, loud, aggressive, and generally disgusting behavior. The man has evidenced serious anger management problems over a number of years . Looks like he's baaaaaaaaaaaaack. Lord help us all. SeppiSlice - Ashland - March 15th, 7:35 PM I have no reason to doubt Greg's version of events. (Although I wonder why he got out of his car at Maverick's when he already had the other driver's license plate number. Was he armed? Was he intending to arrest the other driver? Had he identified himself as a police officer?) But my question for the Tidings is, did you contact Chris Earl Thompson for comment? He -- or his lawyer -- should have been given that opportunity. Brad Knickerbocker - Ashland - March 15th, 8:14 PM I think road rage is all too common & is more dangerous then most people think. I have seen some scary incidents in the past. The next step is violence with or without weapons. As a deterrent they need to prosecute this type of behavior to the fullest. We need to spend less of our resources on victimless crimes & concentrate more of our resources on crimes where there is a victim. Neal - Shady Cove - March 15th, 8:27 PM I'm happy to see that Greg and his family are safe.Greg is a fine officer and should be a role model to those in our community arguing as to what kind of officers we should have at APD. Greg is a former APD officer, our loss. If this is the same Thompson that was arrested by the SWAT team some years back and has a long history in our valley of terrorizing people, than I am even more thankful Greg was not seriously hurt. The Sheriff made the right call on this as well.I support good police. Steve Iverson - Ashland, Jefferson - March 15th, 11:24 PM Officer Lemhouse used extraordinary restraint. If anyone tried to run me off the road with my family in the car, and then followed us home like this dirtbag did, they would need to consider themselves extremely fortunate if they still had a pulse the following morning. Jail would be about the best outcome this mentally challenged jerk could possibly hope for. Dave - Ashland, OR - March 16th, 2:01 AM "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?" The silence of posts is deafening here. "Not Iverson" is correct. Where are all the people who gave such sympathy to the drunk girl? Could it be that Chris Thompson is one of their own? My heart goes out to Mr. Lemhouse and his family. And shame on all of you who encourage hatred of the police Yes, Iverson & Daily Tidings, "if the shoe fits, wear it." Observer - Ashland, OR - March 16th, 8:48 AM Absolutely he is one of their own, from the Letters to the editor, Mail Tribune: "I am and have been a hard-core critic of the Jackson County criminal justice system in general and the district attorneys office, the Jackson County Court, the sheriffs department, Mike Winters, the Ashland Police Department and the Oregon State Police...-- Chris Thompson, Ashland" Paper Reader - Ashland, OR - March 16th, 9:22 AM As with all threats against personal safety, law enforcement should take a much stronger stand against cowards like Chris Earl Thompson. Thompson's driver's license should be suspended for at least a year while he contemplates his lack of maturity in a prison cell and attends anger management "tough love" therapy. Road rage is one of the most childish and potentially dangerous afflictions society suffers. Chris Earl Thompson should be prosectued and punished to the full extent of the law. Christopher - Ashland, OR - March 16th, 11:07 AM No one is siding with Thompson. No one has said anything negative about Officer Lemhouse. When police are professional, and treat the citizens of the community with respect we will support them fully.Lemhouse has all my support and rightfully so.He showed great restraint. He could have shot Thompson when he reversed (into Lemhouse).Thompson should be prosecuted for attempted murder.Thompson has a long history in the valley and given time, the posts on him will reflect it I'm sure. Just wait. Steve L. Iverson - Ashland, Jefferson - March 16th, 12:10 PM Thompson IS a threat to society. He has had countless encounters like this. On one hand, I hope they develop a cure for all that ails him. On the other hand, I wish they would pluck him out of our society and throw away the key. Regarding Greg, what a great asset to our town. This is the type of solid, stand up person we need to hold this town together. Ron - Ashland - March 16th, 4:35 PM Brad you're missing the point here. Greg is a civilian when he is off duty. He was threatened along with his family not once but twice he did what any courageous husband/father would have done when being pursued and harassed, chase the danger away from his family at his own risk. And attempt to identify the criminal. And thankfully he just so happened to have police training so that he handled the situation as well as anyone could have. We need more in society like him. kudos to you Greg! C - Ashland - March 16th, 9:34 PM If someone is stalking me,or my family, do I give chase (twice)? or do I stay in my house - gun at the ready. while I wait for the local police to respond to my call for help. Seems as if both people were suffering at the time. A.N. Smith - Ashland OR - March 16th, 9:45 PM Chris E. Thompson is a sociopathic danger to his own neighborhood. He staggers about drunk, picking fights with his neighbors, all the while carrying a conceled pistol. Mr.Lemhouse: you need to be very, very careful of this man. You need to deal with him in a very succinct manner. He will not go away by himself. This man should NOT be walking the streets of anywhere. Will the D.A. PLEASE charge him with something that STICKS? PLEASE? Do not let him walk. He's a ticking time-bomb. ATTENTION..DANGER..PSYCHOPATH ALERT!! - Ashland Oregon - March 17th, 12:31 AM I see nothing negative in the way greg handled everything. This had nothing to do with his role as a cop.Its scary to think what could have happened to the average guy being pursued by this guy. ann - ashland or - March 17th, 8:27 AM If only Officer Lemhouse had emptied his clip into the windshield of Thompson's car as Mr.Psycho was trying to run him over! The TRASH would have been taken "OUT". Too bad. Would have been the perfect ending. FOR THE LIFE Of me, I cannot fathom a justice system that has left this man to terrorize his neighbors for so long. He's a complete *^%@!! D.A. Huddleston: DO SOMETHING WITH THIS GUY: The public needs to be protected from him. Chris is going to kill someone. SERIOUSLY,no joke. Time'll tell ALMOST took the TRASH out - ashland - March 17th, 11:15 AM Ashland has ahd a long history of being corrupt and ganging up on people in this community. They treat people with no respect and expect everyone to worship the ground they walk on. I would like to hear Chris Thompson's side to all this. And why did it take the cops 4 hours to come arrest him? Why didn't this "cop" call one of his buddies for back-up? Who was really to blame? I have a feeling that were only being told what they police want us to hear about big bad Mr.Thompson! A Disgusted Member of Society - Ashland, OR - March 19th, 11:34 AM Hey Disgusted - not this case brother. You must not be from Ashland, not for very long anyhow. Mr. Thompson has a very long history and those of us who have been around know exactly what kind of person he is. It's possible Greg didn't call local police because of their poor response time? He went after the bad guy. Before the bad guy could road rage on someone else. A.n.Smith - I'm sure Greg's wife was locked and loaded and ready to for bear! She was holding down the fort. Historian - Ashland, Oregon - March 19th, 12:29 PM i hope that this officer's wife doesn't have nightmares about taking out her trash and being scared to death for too long. POOOR GIRLIE. i think there's more to the story than what is above, although, it sounds like mr. thompson knew who it was he was following. why did the officer instead of loading a shotgun and chillin' on his own property on his front porch chase this dude down? what the heck was he thinking? too bad his car's jacked up now. GUESS HIS INSURANCE WILL BUY HIM A NEW ONE, EH? ALSO A DISGUSTED MEMBER OF SOCIETY - ASHLAND - March 19th, 12:59 PM why does everyone insist on leaving comments under funny little aliases? anyway, there's a lot missing from this story it looks like and i hope that this officer's wife is okay. i know how scary it can be when someone is lurking around your home. (even peace officers who are looking in your windows and straining to hear something that's not happening) anyway, i think it was stupid for the cop to chase him down. now his car is ruined. my daddy would've been sitting on the porch waiting. CASEY MILLER ( [email protected] ) - ASHLAND - March 19th, 1:43 PM because if someone is threatening your family DON'T QUOTE ME but isn't it legal to take a defending action on an intruder to your property? you all should stop "dawgin'" on mr. thompson he got arrested and will, i assume be punished for his actions. if someone (thompson) was acting so creepy why would a) the cop follow him and then pull over after he got the # and b) get out of his car! the officer was obviously pissed off and armed. should've been waiting on your front porch with a glock i say CASEY MILLER ( [email protected] ) - ASHLAND - March 19th, 1:50 PM a glock and a cigarette for the added effect. i think it's righteous that this officer loves his family so much and was willing to risk his life to tell this guy off. but where would they (his kids and wife) be if he was hurt in that car accident or when he may have attempted to talk to this obviously not on a clear level person without all the special stuff cops get to wear and defend themselves with in situations of this nature? i still do give this officer a two thumbs up for bravery:) CASEY MILLER ( [email protected] ) - ASHLAND - March 19th, 2:18 PM Greg, Our family is glad you, jess, and the kids are safe. You did what anyone of us would have done. YOur a great dad, a great husband and a great officer. See you in April. James - Salem - March 19th, 5:45 PM Maybe he wanted to get the guy away from his house and family. He did the best he could do and anybody suggesting shooting the guy is in TV land.He doesn't have to answer to anybody his actions. Give him a break. I wouldn't wait and watch someone protect my family, I think we all react in our own way. ann - ashland or - March 19th, 8:36 PM I think Officer Lemhouse was completely on target in his actions, and I wish he had been chosen over Navikas. By the way- if you want bad cops, go to Eugene. The guys and dolls that work here at APD seem pretty decent in comparison. Aoife Donnelly - Ashland, OR - March 20th, 1:10 AM Nice to see the incident headlined by Daily Tidings. 'Carma' hits a home run this time around! May it be a warning to the numerous road ragers on our highways. If you know one, consider offering to drive instead of riding with them on your next road trip. Or not..... And possibly suffer the consequences. Colestine mafia - Hilt, Ca - March 20th, 10:09 AM It takes two to Tango. It always does. If Lemhouse were not a macho idiot and simply ignored the drunk idiot (except, of course for calling the police on him) none of this would have happened. Macho begets macho and this is the end result of that. It is pretty rare that a road rage incident is entirely one person's fault. It is unlikely that Thompson simply started attacking Lemhouse without some macho bravado as provocation. These types of incidents never happen to me and I get cut off a lot. Jon - Ashland - March 20th, 11:44 AM "The only thing necessary for the triumpn of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke John - Ashland, OR - March 20th, 12:45 PM Jon, I'm guessing you don't know much about Thompson, since you state that "If Lemhouse were not a macho idiot and simply ignored the drunk idiot (except, of course for calling the police on him) none of this would have happened". WRONG! Thompson, with no provocation, has terrorized his neighborhood for years. He gets off on being a drunken bully, attempting to use intimidation to get what he wants. Clinton - Ashland - March 20th, 2:42 PM I think that Greg Lemhouse did the right thing and I'm thankful that neither he nor his family were injured by the psycho Thompson. I hope Mike Winters is the man to finally put Thompson behind bars and keep him there for a long time. Clinton - Ashland - March 20th, 4:25 PM CLINTON: you're right about Chris Thompson. He's a complete BULLY and is a dangerous excuse for a human being. He's got his neighborhood in lock-down mode. People hold their breath when he walks out the door. Many of them are scared-stiff of what THEY'll be forced to do if Chris get's out of hand (again). It is THAT serious. Any of you out-of-towners who are flaming on the cop need to graciously check their tongues. They don't know Chris Thompson. 2Bad Lemhouse didn't BEAT Naked Navickas (sucks) Psycho Psyity - Ashland - March 20th, 7:27 PM I have had a run in with thompson also. But I wonder what kind of police officer would corner some drunk and actually get out of his car. He must of known who he was. No one in their sane mind would get out of a car to approach someone without knowing who he was or if he was alone. He is lucky this time. I don't thnik he will much longer if he continues his heroic (or stupid ways). I think he should be repremanded for handling it this way. Neighbor - Ashland - March 20th, 7:33 PM This was NOT just road rage. Thompson is well aware of who the cops are. (see the quote posted by "Paper Reader" above) The only mistake Lemhouse made was not to shoot the jerk when he was ramming his car, so the rest of the neighborhood could stop being terrorized. Mr. Rogers (in the neighborhood) - Ashland - March 21st, 8:17 AM Can somebody publish a picture of Thompson somewhere? I was raged at by a pickup truck driver and wonder if it was him. nofreelunch - ashland, OR - March 21st, 8:46 AM Mr. Rogers: Don't misunderstand me, I am fully aware of the threat Thompson posses. But the incident took place where flying bullets could injured others. I thought the police offercers were trained to call back up. I think knowing Thompson it would have been a good idea. In reading the other comments it stated that Thompson also could have been armed and has been in a standoff with police before. What's to say this time he could have shot back. Lemhouse your kids need you. CAll BACKUP Neighbor - Ashland - March 21st, 9:04 AM Neighbor: A minor correction of your statement "this time he could have shot back". You implied he hasn't taken a shot at anyone, but he HAS. During his armed stand-off with SWAT he fired a shot at them. Those who know him were left wondering why that act didn't get him tossed in jail or wounded by return fire. Clinton - Ashland - March 21st, 10:22 AM Lunchbox: Thompson made front page of the Sneak Preview years ago where was granted a soft interview. At that time he tried to explain his standoff with the SWAT team. You can see what he looks like if you can get that issue. Maybe Curtis Hayden will do another article on him and he can explain how is being wrongfully prosecuted again. This guy has nine lives when it comes to police entanglements...hopefully this incident was number ten and he gets locked for a while. Miller R. Jones - Ashland, Oregon - March 21st, 10:53 AM Neighbor, Let me fix my comment: "The only mistake Lemhouse made was not to shoot and kill the jerk when he was ramming his car, so the rest of the neighborhood could stop being terrorized." Better? Mr. Rogers - Ashland - March 21st, 12:52 PM The title of this article should read: "Two Bull Elephants Battle in the Bush". I am no Thompson fan but his attorney will argue he was cut off by a reckless driver...he committed no offense by parking on a public street...he was aggressively pursued...such is the spin. Officer doesn't help his cause by failing to alert local police. I infer he is contemptuous of them and while I like his 'John Wayne-ways' it'll be tough in court. oscar - ashland, or - March 21st, 1:06 PM Mr.Rogers: Better, what does this guy have on the police? Less has been done and the person thrown in jail for years. Neighbor - Ashland - March 21st, 1:11 PM I Think CHRIS is coated in TEFLON, the Universe has been BEGGED to end his existence, yet he continues to offend and make waste of oxygen. He has managed to walk away time and again, from "run ins". I fear that he has whatever O.J.Simpson has. He'll get away with murder and some smart-a** lawyer will get him off with " if the fender don't fit, you must acquit". Sure. Laugh 'now'. Cry later. Sociopathic malcontent seeking conflict and attention.Anti-psychotics shot with blowdarts indicated!NOW! I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT - azzhland - March 21st, 9:19 PM Folks we need to be clear about what is really at issue here--a man who is dangerous to his community. Anyone who has lived around Chris knows that he is bonifiedly out of control. Even his family has fled in fear of his actions. This fellow needs to be removed from the community through whatever legal vehicle necessary to get him help and protect others. This incident should be the catalyst for finally taking action. Someone will be hurt if this goes ignored much longer. Don't enable this. Another neighbor - Ashland - March 22nd, 8:50 AM Neighbor, I don't believe he has anything on the police. He just hates authority in general...from what I've read on him he hates all the police departments equally. Probably our wonderful district attorneys (most of whom couldn't make it in private practice.) And/or Cate Hartzell, who has been known to intercede on less than stellar "citizens" behalfs on numerous occasions here in the Socialist Republic of Ashlandia. Mr. Rogers - Ashland, OR - March 22nd, 10:23 AM He does have a loan company I wonder if he has a few people under his thumb? C - Ashland - March 22nd, 10:44 AM I'm a neighbor. It's true, many a night we sleep uneasy. You never know if what you say or do will trigger a threat. MANY times we tried to reason with him. he uses the excuse of being on medication or alcohol for his behavior; bashing mailboxes, yelling obscenities, firing his GUN toward neighbor's property.very scary. He needs professional help before someone gets killed. Will he realize he needs it? many of us have called the police. His wife finally took the kids and left. what would you do? not gonna leave my name - ashland - March 22nd, 11:37 AM Is Thompson still in jail or out on bail? Clinton - Ashland - March 22nd, 11:51 AM Has law enforcement interviewed anyone in Thompson's neighborhood to get a handle on what kind of a dangerous psycho he really is? I sure hope Mike Winters will be up to the task of finally putting the fruitloop away! Clinton - Ashland - March 22nd, 11:59 AM There used to be a website, darksiderogue.virtualave.net/sofg.htm, that was put up by a former employee of Thompson. It was a very enlightening insight into Thompson's psychotic behavior. Included in the website material were photos from Thompson's collection of young teenage girls in soccer uniform in very suggestive poses. It was disgusting, but minor in the context of other info revealed on the same site. Anybody else see this website? Clinton - Ashland - March 22nd, 12:16 PM Just a minute here if he's claiming that his "meds" are causing this behavioral problems than someone needs to listen before before it's too late. Hopefully his prescribing doctor will get him off of whatever he's on and try something else. Some "meds" do send people off the "deep end" more often than people realize. C - Ashland - March 23rd, 1:50 AM Does ANY body know when the CREEPY CRAZY MAN goes to Court? In the meantime, my SYMPATHIES to the neighbors who have to endure this menace day2day; now that he's get'n attention from us, and the 'law' he's going to be MORE unstable. I've got my fingers crossed. I'm just so thankful that he pulled his latest escapade on a COP! How lucky for US was THAT???? G.Lemhouse was acting under ORS 810.410 when he was confronting Chris, he was NOT a "civilian". Lucky for Chris he didn't get a clip of 9mm PLEASE, ALREADY! - Ashland - March 23rd, 6:26 PM When Thompson and his family first moved to Ashland I asked his daughters what their dad did for a living. "He's a loan shark" were their exact words. That made me nervious then, but if only I had known of the things to come over the years. M - Ashland, OR - March 23rd, 10:55 PM We have not heard or seen Mr. Thompson around his property lately. Someone is taking care of his animals (4 horses on less than 2 acres which they share with a malfunctioning drain field and an oversized barn). I wonder if he is in custody. Neighbor - Ashland, OR - March 26th, 6:46 PM Does anyone know when Thompson is supposed to go to court? All the neighbors should show up to cheer on the prosecutor in this case. Clinton - Ashland - March 27th, 4:33 PM Neighbor: He was seen over the weekend using a walking stick and heading toward his barn. Clinton - Ashland - March 27th, 4:35 PM How about a follow up article on the status of the suspect in this case? Was he released from jail on bail or is he still locked up?How about his history with law enforcement? His prior SWAT entanglement? How about his family? Have they really fled in fear of him as one post suggests?Who is this character? He's been in the Tidings before. How about a short story updating what happened in his other brushes with the law?Facts. No rumors, who is he really?Beat the Sneak Preview article. Johnny Jones - Ashland - March 28th, 8:11 AM I wish the article would explain how somebody can get away with so much for so long. I thought that the world took care of things/people like that. I thought that "what goes around comes around". I understand that C.T. has done a TON of terrorist crap on his neighbors for years now. Why has he gotten away with it for so long? Here he is, somebody who should have been a "statistic" at least a dozen times, and he's about to get off with yet another act of domestic terror. I'm not holding my breath I can't figure it out - Ashland - March 28th, 6:33 PM It appears he's home and has been seen driving a newer black jeep. Concerned - Ashland - March 28th, 8:07 PM one of the reasons we neighbors have put up with CT for so long is that we keep having hope that he will change. most of us have tried to reason with him. and IT"S NOT EASY> he definitely needs help, but we are not professionals. His rottwheilers at one time attacked a personwalking on the road,he trashes neighbor's property when he gets angry, and yes, his family has left him. at least one family haswanted to move because of his threats.Chris just keeps getting out of jail. it's unbelievable neighbor - Ashland, OR - March 29th, 6:44 PM Thompson usually takes care of his horses but they seem to be looking for something to eat most of the day the last couple of days. I wonder what is going on. Kid Least - Ashland, OR - March 29th, 8:02 PM Well this is one neighbor who'd invite his rottys to attack, then have him trash my yard when he got mad at me for putting them in a shallow grave on his property...LOL!!! I assure this clown that he's NOT the only badass in the neighborhood, and yeah I've seen this goof in his nice Jeep...I live in NO FEAR because of some goofball with an attitude, he'll meet his match one day, and maybe his maker, who or whatever that might be!!! Good Luck Neighbors...and FEAR NOT REST EASY!!! neighbor 2 - Ashland, Or - March 30th, 6:40 PM Dear Mr. Thompson: I'd really like to hear your side of the story, or storiES. I'd like to know what makes you tick. I'd like to know what it's going to take for you to get the help you need, or for you to go the Big House in Salem, where, you'll get what you need. I'm really offended at the way you treat your neighbors, a good many of them are FINE AND DECENT PEOPLE who do NOT DESERVE your CRA*. You are a menace to your neighbors and I for one pray that you go to jail. For a long time. TurnNcof SURE'd like to hear from CHRIS - Ashland - March 30th, 7:40 PM It's interesting to note an excerpt from the previously mentioned "darksideoftherogue" web site that Chris Thompson's given name on his birth certificate is Kit Liest. Is this guy hiding from someone, or part of the witness protection program? Clinton - Ashland - March 30th, 8:13 PM People moved from Ashland due to harrassment by Christopher Earl Thompson. Parents/kids from YMCA&soccer fear him. Neighbors are in jeopardy. We have long figured Chris had something over the DA as he keeps getting off. Chris's method is to get something on you & then intimidate you into silence for fear of your life. He has guns. He files wrongful - frivolous lawsuits that haves no chance of winning - as he revels in costing you time & money. Once you are his target -you are always at risk. Wary - Sunriver, OR - March 31st, 12:09 PM Will somebody PLEASE tell me WHY C.T. hasn't been "taken out with the trash"?? I've ZABASEARCH dot com 'd him and his birthdate was April 24th 1945. He's 63 years old. You'd think that PRISON would be a GREAT place for him to "rethink his position"..the way he carries on and treats other people, you'd think he's going to live forever..or worse, he's going to take people "with him" when he goes out in a blaze of infamy..either way, this nut needs to be re-shelled. NOW. How LONG can this go on? - Ashland - April 2nd, 6:12 PM I've read your comments about this Thompson jerk with lots of interest. Most interesting however is how this guy manages to NOT have some fantastic "accident" that at least rids Ashland of him, if not this entire plain of existence. There was an idiot like this in my neighborhood, once, before I arrived. Nobody's ever seen another idiot like him, since. There's lots to be said for creativity and a little research. You must've heard a variation of this somewhere before: "Feces happens". EC - AZ - April 4th, 2:39 PM Greg, We the community back you no matter what you do. Even if you had emptied your gun on that psycho, we support you. Do whatever you want and tell us your version, we believe you. We do what cops tell us and we thank GOD you and your family are ok. We need cops to tell us what to do. God bless the flag and Greg Lemhouse. Americant - Ashlanistan - April 6th, 4:55 AM I find two things strange about this story. One is that when we have a group of people the police consider trouble or irritants they get a front page collective mug shot on the Daily Tidings but when somebody in town who has been apparently terrorizing and threatening a neighborhood for years now you can't find a single picture of him anywhere past or present the story itself (other than this post sight) has gone curiously quite.? C - Ashland - April 7th, 8:33 AM So I decided to go to Ja.Co.jail inmate list online that shows current inmates, rap sheet, and picture thinking I might glimpse him there suddenly it wouldn't come up and it said the service was unavailable at the same time he would have been in jail and then like magic after he was released the sight came back online. That was rather odd so I've yet to see what this guy looks like. What's up D.T. follow up on this story? Or will this be another "now you see it now you don't" kind of deal? C - Ashland - April 8th, 2:49 AM It is to bad that Greg did not call for backup like he should have instead of trying to handle this on his own. I am sure CT will get out of most of the charges. He was trapped by someone who had a gun. What was he to do. They waited four hours to arrest him. I am sure he was so upset as being chased by a man with a gun that he had to go home and drink. Don't you think this is going to be his defense. Why oh why did he not do it by the book and call for backup. I am sure he will walk. Neighbor - Ashland - April 8th, 12:03 PM Again, can we PLEASE see a photo of this jerk? There must be one on file somewhere, ADT, for you to print with your follow-up article. nofreelunch - ashland, OR - April 9th, 6:02 AM Come on, ADT: show us the face of CT! I want to see who I should be steering clear of, lest I would be forced to choose between life (mine) and death (his), because I know that we have a madman who is well versed in civil incivility...let me know the face of this guy! WHATS UP? Is he WITNESS PROTECTION STUFF or what? IF SO, who PROTECTS US from this slime ball with a bottle of booze and a barrel full of bullets? I'm REALLY concerned about this and the next letter I write is to WALDEN... I cannot belive this stuff - Ashland Oregon - April 9th, 8:05 PM Is there someplace to post a photo? I ran across CT's photo from the Sneak Preview of 8/11/99, but I doubt the DT will let it be posted in this space. We could start a topic on the Mail Trib Forum site.... Clinton - Ashland - April 10th, 10:44 AM I think it is hilarious that all you people with nothing better to do with your lives are talking crap about someone that could very easily be you! How many times have you heard of innocent people in you community being harassed or beaten? Coincidence or not? The police get away with everything they want! STOP JUDGING AND START ASKING QUESTIONS!!! PLEASE! ASK YOURSELF??? IS DEFENDING YOURSELF A CRIME? Before I would ever want some convicted of a crime I would want to know the truth!!! And yes I am his daughter so please dont let me be a topic of your harassment anymore!!! I love my father and he gives a lot and deserves some respect. No longer say that we left because of him because like m Kimberly - Thompson - April 11th, 12:23 AM Oh and please stop talking about putting my dogs in the ground! Dont threaten something you will regret! Those animals are amazing and have nothing to do with your personal problem! Kimberly - Beaverton, Or - April 11th, 12:27 AM Clinton....Where did you find the Sneak Preview article? Is it available online? If so, you could certainly post the link here. I'm surprised that the Tidings hasn't at least told readers whether Mr. Thompson has been arraigned and what charges have been filed. Thanks. Brad Knickerbocker - Ashland - April 11th, 8:27 AM Brad, Sneak Preview isn't online. The article was found in a private archive of such information. Various members of CT's neighborhood began collecting information years ago when the bullying by CT began. Clinton - Ashland - April 11th, 12:21 PM Kimberly, Please enlighten us so that we may understand your father's behavior. concerned - Ashland - April 11th, 2:33 PM Hey Kimberly I understand that you had a run in with the police recently. In fact a couple of incidents. Like Father like daughter? I certainly hope you are not headed down the same road as him. I think your whole family needs help. You all enable each other. Another Concerned Citizen - Ashland, OR - April 11th, 3:27 PM "Don't threaten something you will regret." Like father like daughter-or maybe not daughter. Anyone in the Thompson family care to explain the break up of daughter's party several years ago with loving father Chris chasing a teen into a ditch with his car or his rage that evening that resulted in bashing many neighbor's mailboxes? Also might want to check with mom as to why she's no longer living with the loving father. Nice spin about 'police harassment' but that's not going to fly. Another neighbor - Ashland - April 11th, 5:53 PM Kim, I KNOW the neighbors. I KNOW what your father does. You can try the indignation routine on other folks, and those of us who actually don't know your Dad from Adam, might even be inclined to give him a shadow of a doubt. Not me. I've seen the effect he has on his neighbors. I suspect he's had an effect on you ( a little understatement there) as well. Your dad is a creep and big bully. He's not an innocent mind-his-own-business silent citizen. NICE TRY, but not quite. CT= creepo Now Kimberly, something doesn't add up - ashland - April 11th, 7:13 PM The Loving Father From HADES ( can't say "Hell", can I?) If it were not so ludicrous, I'd be laughing. This is not funny. Enabling behavior is not good. What makes your Loving Psycho Daddyo do this stuff? What makes him such a big bully? Was he beaten regularly as a child? Were you? ( like I don't already know that answer). Maybe, if we keep the light on this slug, it'll slither off somewhere else? Maybe, if we keep the heat on this snake, it'll shed it's skin and go away? Creepo Meter On RED - ashland - April 12th, 6:29 PM leave that girl alone. like father like daughter? someone should wash your mouth out with patchouli. kim thompson is AWESOME. she's a bright and intelligent girl. she's beautiful and has lots of friends. she's defending her father. DON'T PINPOINT EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. it's so funny how all you cowards leave aliases instead of names...you must not be real people. so quick to judge a young girl, shame shame shame on you. go on girl, do your thing. they're just trying to BULLY YOU NOW. HYPOCRITS. casey miller ( [email protected] ) - ashland - April 12th, 10:29 PM Hey Casey: Many people don't leave their name, including me, because they know what CT does to people. Maybe you have not been on the receiving end of one of his tantrums. I have and others have and this is why the alias. He can be your friend one day and terrorize you the next. So don't you call anyone a hypocrit. Neighbor - Ashland - April 13th, 1:21 PM I don't know Kim (or any of her family) and am not personally familiar with any of the history. But Casey, I say right on. It's amazing how big and brave anonymous posters can be, eh! (Sort of like the Klan.) And if the Tidings insisted on naming real names here (or at least moving responses into a separate forum), these masked hotshots would be the first to squeal about their First Amendment rights. What a crock! Brad Knickerbocker - Ashland - April 13th, 2:55 PM Now this is getting ridiculous. Some high school girls have a pary when there parents are out for the night. Which all you upstanding citizens with your aliases have never done. And a kid drives into a ditch so lets blame big bad Mr. Thompson. And theres no prejudices involved!! Please get a clue! Who knows you maybe next and hopefully people will show you the same concideration when you are miss interpreted! Kimberly - Beaverton, or - April 13th, 3:31 PM Like you really think Chris Thompson is NOT going to retaliate against anybody who posts here..Casey, dream on, dream on..I'm sure she's a lovely, wonderful, beautiful, stunning, vivacious, gorgeous, cool, lovely, outrageously great, kid. But, "kid" is the point. You too. Would I be correct to assume that you are by proxy, defending CHRIS THOMPSON? You think I'm going to put myself and my family in Chris's crosshairs? I WILL defend myself and it will mean at least manslaughter. GET IT? You need to F.O. Yeah, RiiiiiiiiiiiiGHT - ashland - April 13th, 3:36 PM Oh and neighbor 1 and neighbor 2 atleast I have the balls to put my name on my words and I don't have to hide behind my shadow. Will your aliases please be changed to full of shit cause thats what you really are! And just for your information Alias is another way of saying "hides in the dark because can't take the light of day." Have a good one! Kimberly - Beaverton, or - April 13th, 3:37 PM oh my...f.o. that's mature. kimberly thompson is not a kid. she's grown and lives on her own and does her own thing. she's defending her father and yes she is too all those things lovely, wonderful, beautiful, stunning, vivacious, gorgeous, cool, lovely, outrageously great, by "proxy" i am defending the people of this town that aren't part of the cop loving majority, or the ones that hide their identities because they're "scared" and then post a LOT OF SMACK TALK. IF YOU'RE SCARED DON'T POST. CASEY MILLER ( [email protected] ) - ASHLAND - April 13th, 5:05 PM BY THE WAY, SINCE I ALREADY KNOW PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SAY, "BUT YOU SAID IN YOUR POST SHE IS A YOUNG GIRL"..BLAHBLAHBLAH, IT DOESN'T MATTER HER AGE, MAYBE THE BIG BAD "CT" HAS GOOD DAYS AND BAD AND IF I WERE HIM I WOULD TOO, LOOK AT WHAT YOU POST ABOUT HIM! HE'S LOUD I DON'T LIKE HIM, HE'S OBNOXIOUS I DON'T LIKE HIM. WHAT ABOUT YOU...LOOK WHAT YOU SAY, A LOT OF THESE FOLKS ARE TOTALLY OBNOXIOUS AND WOULD BE LOUD IF THIS PAPER COULD SPEAK. TALK ABOUT YOUR DOUBLE STANDARDS. HEY I GOT ONE...YO MAMA CASEY MILLER ( [email protected] ) - ASHLAND - April 13th, 5:14 PM It appears this commentary has turned into an immature attempt by Kimberly and Casey to rationalize CT's actions & blame the police for his missteps. Those who live around him know the truth. With a little digging around, you can figure it out too. Clinton - Ashland - April 13th, 9:54 PM Immature! Our attempts to open your eyes to the idea that this article is very one sided is immature? Then what do you call all the irrelavant bad mouthing and speculation being wriiten by you againt Chris Thompson? My bad I guess I don't know my father I guess I'll have to dig a little deeper! Your living with blinds over your eyes. Maybe if you took them off for just a moment you'd see what a corrupt place Ashland has become and trust me Chris Thompson did not do that. Kimberly - Beaverton, or - April 14th, 11:44 AM Kimberly, I think your Dad is a good man, that because of one thing, or another has depicted expressions of negatism that are not socially acceptable. From what I know of him, not judging his past, I believe that if he is not under the influence of anything, his character would not stand out from the crowd of typical Ashland residents, and that they, that have "never sinned", or behaved badly, cast the first stone. Zack - Ashland, Or - April 14th, 3:37 PM WOW! I am at a lose for words to explain and comprehend how cruel and ignorant all these people talking about MY FATHER are. It truely makes me sad to see how affected and brainwashed all these people stuck in their tiny little world called Ashland can be. That is why I moved, not my father. I experienced high school and then I grew up. Why would I keep living in one? I believe in hearing both sides. Some of you could go back to high school and learn a thing or two instead of only how to gossip! Kelly - not ashland thank god - April 14th, 11:48 PM yeah right. we're the immature ones. all we're trying to do is let the people of the town know that we know what it's like to have a mass amount of people judging and "hating". how would you feel if it was your name being slandered? i don't see anything immature about my comments. i do however, see a lot of immaturity coming from the other end....for example, f.o. wow, clinton, didn't you comment on my article as well? lucky for me i have evidence to support myself, and lots of it. casey miller ( [email protected] ) - ashland - April 16th, 10:17 PM Okay, it's fairly obvious what we're dealing with here. I'd LOVE to hear Chris Thompson's side, but for some reason he's been silent and his daughters and the one disturbed young man from Beaverton (Casey) have jumped on the Indignant WaGOn in a back-fired attempt to defend the indefensible. Not surprised at all. It's very clear somebody(s) has/have their back(s) against the wall and are lashing out. Time and the jury process will tell. You just can't keep on terrorizing the neighborhood, CT! Another Neighbor - Ashland Reiten Drive - April 17th, 8:26 AM Should we be seeing the signs the people failed to see in Blacksburg, VA? Will there have to be a horrrible incident on Reiten Drive occasioned by CT? Neighbor - Ashland, OR - April 17th, 6:59 PM Yes, we should be seeing the signs: anger mismanaged, threats, neighbors that are truly fearful. I hope to high heaven that something is done with this situation, or else I believe the authorities, who've had ample warning, should be held to answer for whatever happens. Call the D.A. everybody, write him;use the webpage www.co.jackson.or.us and start from there. Tell him what you think/feel/fear about C.T.. Tell him that you expect him to do something. Tell him there's VIOLENCE in the works! NOW! See The Signs too - ashlandoregon - April 18th, 8:19 AM Signs- that's the best thought that's been printed on here! Thank you! "Call the D.A. everybody, write him;use the webpage www.co.jackson.or.us and start from there. Tell him what you think/feel/fear about C.T.. Tell him that you expect him to do something. Tell him there's VIOLENCE in the works! NOW!" A Neighbor Too - Ashland - April 18th, 9:57 PM I am absolutely appalled that "Neighbor" has compared the Virginia Tech tragedy to Chris. This melodramatic story is entirely one sided and I suggest that everyone take Chris' daughter's comments very seriously. It would also be a sapient decision to realize that reading "artificially-coated" articles from the Daily Tidings is not going to give you a biographical portrayal of Chris, or any other person for that matter. Also, Zack's on to something...maybe you should pay attention. Sarah - Ashland, OR - April 20th, 5:06 PM By the way, I have been Chris' secretary for three and a half years and know first hand that he is a benevolent, generous humanitarian and a nice person. He's also a very passionate person, so he's not going to hide under a rock just because some OBNOXIOUS, ARROGANT people dislike him - he's going to speak his mind. So please don't talk about someone like you know everything about them, that's just idiotic. Just keep an eye out for his opinion on the matter... Sarah - Ashland, OR - April 20th, 5:31 PM Dear Sarah; there must be TWO Chris Thompsons. One is only left to logically conclude as much. Please explain how a "...benevolent, generous humanitarian...." would engage in such behavior as described in the above article...you DID read the above article, didn't you? Again, something is just not quite right here, time and the weight of evidence will speak volumes. "Just keep an eye out for his opionion on the matter.." I'm quite certain he'll make a shining example of himself. 'Always does. There must be two - Ashland - April 20th, 8:04 PM For those of you who feel that CT is a "benevolent, generous humanitarian" I have but one wish: "I wish he was your neighbor and not mine." Neighbor - Ashland, OR - April 20th, 11:40 PM One couldn't exactly be "non biased" when we're working for him, now can we? What's going to happen to your job when he gets the slammer to cool off in? Could your economic interests be the real source of your indignation? "Obnoxious" and "arrogant" should be C.T.'s descriptors. Funny, but the kettle just called the pot "black". How long did Chris think he could terrorize the neighborhood? Cars, guns, holding other's equipment hostage, drunkeness; psychotic behavior. Slowly, the ship sinks. Further Proof - Ashland Oregon - April 21st, 10:56 AM as for there must be two. do u believe everything u read? i hope not. they're are 2 sides to every story. even this one. .... - ashland, or - April 22nd, 6:52 PM Folks, the record speaks for itself. There's plenty on Thompson's behavior in the police and sheriff logs. And this time he's going to have to account for it. If you have incidents and concerns that the DA should know about, write to him. Trying this case in the paper doesn't matter much. Take the action that does. Another neighbor - Ashland - April 24th, 8:52 AM Yes, write the DA, call the office..keep the pressure on, keep the lights turned up. The "indignant" from Beaverton are obviously anxious. They're trying to "shame" the neighbors into letting this slip under the radar, like his other escapades have. Well, not this time. Sarah,Casey,Daughters: while "allegance" is honorable; the man to whom you direct this misguided emotion is not. 2-side of story: R U A NEIGHBOR? If not, please, listen-up: we KNOW C.T., you don't. Keep the heat turned up. Keeping the light-on - Ashland OR - April 24th, 5:42 PM Well "neighbors" and other malicious cynics, I wish I could be as insightful into the lives of others I don't know personally as you apparently are. Let's see...should I trust a newspaper that never asked for his account of the incident or Chris himself? Hmmm...that's a tough one. Seeing that you are so eager to verbally attack Chris, you probably haven't taken an introspective look into your own lives. You must think you're better than everyone else...shame shame. Quit victimizing yourselves Sarah - Ashland, OR - April 30th, 4:06 PM Sarah, you're trying to shift the focus of the argument. WE did not try and ram another vehicle. WE did not terrorize a family by following them to their own house twice. WE do not have a LONG HISTORY of conflict with our neighbors. I challenge YOU to look at OUR side. You're basically showing your true colors when you discount OUR experiences with Chris as "malicious cynics". Obviously, you do not CARE to UNDERSTAND our concerns and expe
