Benefit supports cancer patient A benefit for former Ashland resident Gary Green takes place Sunday at the Lost Creek Lake Marina. Green, a lung cancer patient, have lived with his wife and two children in the Medford-Ashland area for seven years. He is currently undergoing treatment for his illness, and the family is struggling to pay bills, according to organizers of the benefit. His wife, Denise, is a nurse and Rogue Valley Medical Center and is assisting him in his care. Green is manager of the Lost Creek Lake Marina and hopes to return to duty after his recovery. The benefit runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and includes a barbecue and games. Donations may be made to any branch of Washington Mutual Bank starting today, to the Gary Green and Family fund.
