The Raiders, who went 40-12 last year, return the nucleus of their 2004 club, including Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Year Miranda Gillespie. Southern also will have more to play for in 2005, as head coach Larry Binney will retire at season's end. Oregon Tech (34-23) received every second-place vote in the poll. The Owls will be looking to return to the top of the Cascade Conference roost for the first time since 2003. The Owls return CCC Player of the Year Amanda Doherty. Eastern Oregon (25-18), Western Baptist (20-25), and Concordia (23-22) were tightly packed in the middle of the poll, with Albertson College (10-33) pulling up the rear. Conference play begins the final week of March, when the six teams converge on Portland's Delta Park for the league's annual preseason tournament.
