--> --> Vern E. Edwards At his request, no services will be held for Vern E. Edwards, 92, of Talent, who died Monday, October 15, 2001 at Linda Vista Care Center. Mr. Edwards was born April 2, 1909 to James L. and Lillian Belle (Terry) Edwards in Beatrice, Neb. He grew up in Beatrice and attended school there. On December 10, 1933 he married Cecilia R. Mitlawski and they moved to the eastern San Francisco Bay area in 1948, where they raised three children. In 1966, they moved to the Talent-Ashland area. Mr. Edwards made a career of professional house painting and paper hanging. His hobbies were fishing, acrylic painting, gardening, and arts and crafts. He also enjoyed rock-hounding and lapidary work, as well as home maintenance. Survivors include a son, Gregory L. Edwards of Roseburg, Ore.; two daughters, DeAnna LaBrensz of Talent, Ore., and Susan M. Rivers of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Gary P. LaBrensz of Talent, Ore., Renee Medina of Roy, Utah, Robert Buckles of Hillsboro, Ore., and Kimberly Wood of Rhododendron, Ore.; and seven great-grandchildren. Vern Edwards was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Cecilia, who died in February of this year, and two brothers and one sister.
