--> --> SOU announces new scholarship Ashland Daily Tidings The Southern Oregon University Foundation has announced the formation of The Raymond & Luella (Wickstrom) Morris Endowed Scholarship. The first award will be for the 2002-2003 academic year. Designed to exist in perpetuity, the scholarship was funded in memory of the Morris' through donations from Carl, Richard, Jennifer and Diana Scearce, Marlene, Richard, Stephen and Michael Fallquist. Raymond and Luella Morris were longtime residents of the Rogue Valley. Luella Morris was a member of the first graduating class in the Masters of Education program at Southern Oregon University in 1954. She taught school for 46 years, 24 of which were at Briscoe Elementary School in Ashland. For many years she was a supervising teacher for student teachers from SOU. She was also an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association. Raymond Morris was a barber in downtown Medford. At retirement, he owned the City Barber Shop on Main in Medford. The scholarship will assist students in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program at SOU. Selection will be based primarily on need.
