The remaining candidates are: Solomon Fulp, assistant athletics director at University of California; Chris Hawken, most recently the consulting general manager of the Sacramento Knights soccer team; Kevin Dustin, associate athletic director at Utah State University; Kevin Bryant, athletic director at Aloha High School in Beaverton; and Dennis Francois, a professor at New Mexico Highlands, where he was previously an interim athletic director. Fulp's interview is scheduled for Monday, Hawken will visit Tuesday, Dustin will be here March 30, Bryant on March 31 and Francois on April 5. The school released the names of the finalists and their rsum's Monday. SOU Vice President Diane Brimmer, who has headed up the search, was unavailable for comment. Dustin and Fulp appear to be the front runners. Both have AD experience and have led successful fundraising ventures for their schools. Dustin has been Utah State's associate athletics director since 1999. There, he was responsible for marketing, media relations, ticket operations and fundraising. According to Dustin's resume, he was instrumental in negotiating a pour rights contract with Coca-Cola, the single biggest sponsorship contract in USU athletics history. Fulp has been the assistant AD at UC Berkeley since 2003. According to his resume, he helped increase corporate revenue from $2.6 million in the 2002-03 school year to $4.3 in 2004-05. Each interview will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an interview with SOU President Elisabeth Zinser and wrap up at 6 p.m. with a dinner with Zinser and Brimmer. In between, candidates will tour the university, meet administrators and students and give a 20-minute presentation on "leading an intercollegiate athletics program of quality and integrity in a regionally engaged public liberal arts university." Southern Oregon's nationwide search began in December after former athletic director Phil Pifer left the school to take an athletic trainer position at North Medford High. Assistant wrestling coach Dan Speasl has served as interim athletic director.
