Salem Traffic Stop Uncovers Drugs and Gun, Lands Two in Jail After Early Morning Bust Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Mar 30, 2025 Evidence seized | Courtesy: Salem Police Dept. SALEM, Ore. — The action of a police officer, who stopped a vehicle with three occupants in north Salem during the early hours of Sunday morning, led to the seizure of drugs, and a firearm. The incident occurred at 2.30 a.m., when a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in Silverton Road, near Lana Avenue NE. On closer inspection, the officer found that the driver, Michael Martin Trevino (37), was unlicensed and had an outstanding warrant. Trevino was taken into custody. A small quantity of methamphetamine was found in the possession of one of the passengers, Justin Tickell (41). He was released at the scene after being cited for possession of a controlled substance. The third passenger, who initially resisted arrest, had a handgun, drugs, and paraphernalia in his possession. Gavino Manuel Rocha (28) was transported, together with Trevino, and lodged at the Marion County Jail. Trevino posted bail and Rocha remains in custody. He will appear in the Marion County Circuit Court tomorrow (Monday) to face charges of a felon in the unlawful possession and/or delivery of methamphetamine, the unlawful manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a felon in the unlawful possession of a firearm.
