Avery is a eighth-grade student at Ashland Middle School. Avery will be honored by Ashland Rotary at its regular meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18. Ms. Jesmer has been acclaimed by her teachers as having a very high level of school work and leadership. Avery was chosen first out of 130 eighth-grade students on her scholastic team. Her teachers report that she is thoughtful and they universally praised her work stating that her participation in class is outstanding. Avery's home-room teacher, Robert Julian, stated that "Avery's skills are very advanced and her strong leadership sets a good example to assist others to succeed." Her extracurricular activities include volleyball, painting and quilting and she has a significant interest in architecture. She has assisted in fundraising for a local animal shelter and for The Faith Fulmer & Friends Foundation. Avery has a strong self-employment and entrepreneurial bent, aside from the usual babysitting, and has assisted her mother in her mother's business as well as starting her own online business. Ashland Rotary honors a student from Ashland High School or Ashland Middle School each month in an effort to recognize and encourage excellence in the youth of Ashland.
