--> --> Nov. 13: MacCormack leads Ashland grid selections Ashland Daily Tidings Senior James MacCormack led a group of five Ashland High football players onto the Southern Oregon Conference All-Stars teams that were announced today. Ashland finished the year with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the SOC. This year broke a string of 16 straight playoff appearances for the Grizzlies. MacCormack was the lone first team selection; he was voted by the league's coaches as one of the top defensive linemen in the SOC. Called by Grizz head coach Jim Nagel "someone who would do anything to make the team batter," MacCormack played the first six games of the year on the line before he was moved to linebacker to make up for a depleted defensive core. MacCormack also earned second-team honors as a tackle. Senior wideout Ryan Decker joined MacCormack on the second team offensive list. Decker led the Grizzlies' in catches (38), yards (646) and touchdowns (nine). He was also among SOC leaders in all categories. Senior Torrance George received second-team honors as a defensive back. Senior quarterback Cameron Voget and senior running back Ty Haggard both were named to the honorable mention offensive team. Voget, despite missing two games, completed 83 of 155 passes for 1,152 yards and 15 touchdowns. Haggard re-injured his shoulder midway through the season, missed two games and then came back to lead the Grizz in rushing. Haggard carried the ball 99 times for 575 yards and five touchdowns. Haggard also had back-to-back 100 yards games the last two weeks of the season in a victory over Eagle Point and a near upset of Roseburg. Roseburg's Rod Cope was named the SOC's Offensive Player of the Year, while Roseburg's Joe Newton and North Medford's Alan Borelli were both Defensive Players of the Year.
