APT had six straight hits in the first inning against Lakeview and sent 17 batters to the plate. The game was called after four innings as the 10-run mercy rule went into effect. "We came out today and just attacked from the very beginning," Ashland manager Bobby Heiken said. "It’s what we needed, to get out, have a big first inning and get rolling.” Goff, Gabby Heiken, Heie and Morgan each had a double, and Goff drove in four. Heiken struck out eight and allowed two hits in a complete-game effort. Ashland/Phoenix-Talent will play defending champion Ore-Cal in the second-round of the four-team, double-elimination tournament today. Baseball At Klamath Falls, Ian McKenna-Wood belted two home runs and Ean Lawrence added another to power Ashland’s 11-12 Little League all-stars to a 7-2 victory over Lakeview in the first round of the District 6 tournament Friday. Eyera Nogues earned the victory on the mound for Ashland, which used five pitchers. Ashland will play Klamath Falls in a second-round game today.
