Tim George said. All four suspects were lodged in the Jackson County Jail on 88 counts of first-degree forgery, 88 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of drug possession, all felonies. Each was being held late Wednesday on more than $2.4 million bail. At about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Medford police received a phone call from a Rogue Federal Credit Union official stating a group of people had just left after unsuccessfully trying to exchange torn $100 bills for new money. Ashland police heard about the report and relayed information to Medford officers that a similar situation arose earlier in the morning at an Ashland bank, George said. Just before noon, officers located the suspects’ car on South Pacific Highway in Medford and attempted to stop it. The car pulled into the Skinner Autoplex in the 2100 block of South Pacific Highway, and two men emerged from the vehicle. Officers detained the men, along with two female passengers. George said police located more than 80 pieces of U.S. currency that had been altered or mutilated. Also found in the car was a bag of the drug ecstasy, he said. Police believe the suspects visited “seven or eight” banks Wednesday in Ashland, Phoenix, Talent and Medford, George said. Arrested were Oakland, Calif. residents Marisa Braziel, 39, and India Carter, 26, along with Braziel’s husband, William Stokes, 40, of Altadena, Calif. and Tyrone Thomas, 30, of Chico, Calif.
