Five picks for live entertainment 'The All Night Strut' Thursday Apr 20, 2017 at 12:01 AM 'The All Night Strut' This musical celebration of the 1930s and '40s is filled with jazz, blues, bebop and American standards that weave together the work of songwriters Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer and Charlie Parker. Look for such songs as "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Minnie the Moocher," "Lullaby of Broadway," "It Doesn't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" and more, played by a four-piece band led by music director Mike Wilkins. The show previews Thursday, April 20, opens Friday, April 21, and runs through June 25 at Oregon Cabaret Theatre, corner of First and Hargadine streets. Allison Scull and Victor Martin The guitar and saxophone duo will perform a mix of jazz, blues and folk at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, at DANCIN Vineyards, 4477 S. Stage Road, Medford. NW Dance Project This Portland-based contemporary dance troupe, directed by Sarah Slipper, performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Left Edge Percussion Southern Oregon University percussion ensemble Terry Longshore, Bryan Jeffs, Greyson Boydstun, Jared Brown, Joseph Tierney, Andrew Wright and Keven Younker will present "Headed Downtown," a concert inspired by '60s composers John Cage, Steve Reich and others, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Music Recital Hall, 405 S. Mountain Ave., on the SOU campus in Ashland. The show will open with Bob Becker's "Mudra." Also look for Lou Harrison's "Fugue," Cage's "Third Construction," Reich's "Sextet," and more. Little River Band This Australian band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Look for "Lonesome Loser," "Take It Easy on Me," "Cool Change," "Lady" and other hits. The Fret Drifters and Amber Ratcliff will open the show.
