--> --> Planning Commission will hold meeting, work session The Jackson County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting and work session 9 a.m. Thursday in the Jackson County Courthouse Auditorium, 10 South Oakdale Avenue in Medford. The commission will discuss amendments to the Jackson County Comprehensive Plan and a report from the Development Ordinance Steering Committee. An additional public meeting on a draft of the Land Development Ordinance will be held 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the same auditorium. For information, call 774-8187. · The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program is seeking volunteers to help abused and neglected children by gathering and submitting information to assist the court in making decisions about the child's placement and treatment. All training is provided. For details, call 734-2272. · Drivers are needed to transport neglected and abused children and disabled seniors to medical appointments. Screening and training is required. Volunteers receive 32.5 cents a mile reimbursement. Training and extensive screening is required. · LARC (Living Alternative for Retired Citizens) needs volunteers for following up on clients, library assistance, filing, data entry, survey assistance, and other general office work. At least one hour per week to read with a child one-on-one is necessary. The event will feature a performance of the musical "Wings" at the Angus Bowmer Theater, a symposium hosted by State Representative Alan Bates at SOU to raise awareness of new discoveries in the field of brain restoration, and a dinner and cocktail party with celebrities at Ashland Springs Hotel.
