Portland Man Shot at Two Officers and Could Spend 30 Years in Prison Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Dec 14, 2025 PORTLAND, Ore. — A sentence of 20 years handed down earlier this week to a man who shot at two Portland Police officers sends a strong message that this type of crime will not be tolerated in Multnomah County, says Senior Deputy District Attorney Shawn Overstreet. Overstreet, who prosecuted the case, said in a press release after Christian Fitz-Henry (31) was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. He must first serve 10 years for a separate robbery incident in which a man was shot and killed, effectively imprisoning Fitz-Henry for 30 years. Tidings Context Oregon judges can order prison terms to run consecutively when crimes are separate incidents : that means a new sentence can stack on an existing one, raising the total time served. This week, Fitz-Henry was found guilty on two counts of first-degree attempted murder with a firearm, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and as a felon in possession of a firearm. His Earlier Criminal Activities On October 1, 2021, Fitz-Henry used a 9 millimeter gun to rob Joshua Newell in a townhouse near SE 128th and Stark in Portland, during which the victim was shot and killed. Fitz-Henry was found not guilty of murder but was sentenced to 10 years for robbery. While that case was still under investigation, police located Fitz-Henry’s whereabouts on November 13, 2021. He was traveling in a stolen vehicle and shot at two policemen, who were uninjured.
